Lauren
Lauren enters, but stops as she freezes in her spot. She felt her nerves creeping back once again, and couldn't get herself to move. The reason of this, was because of the commotion that was going on around her. People were shouting, and walking pass her, as if she didn't exist.
She tried walking at the last moment to get around, but people were rudly bumping into her which made it difficult to get anywhere.
Oh this is just my luck! She thought to herself. Just as she was about to move between two officers, she felt herself collide against someone. She looked up seeing a tall man with sandy blond hair. He was really tall, for she only came to his chest. She quickly took a step back, and began apologizing.
"I-I'm so sorry! I was just trying to get by."
The man chuckled. "It's fine, I'm the one who should be sorry though," He paused looking her fully in the face. "Do you work here? I haven't seen you before."
"Oh...well not yet. I'm here for the interview." Lauren said.
"Oh! It's been awhile since we had a newbie around. I hope your accepted. It would be nice to have more females than males for a change." He joked.
"Haha...yeah. Do you happen to know where I'm suppose to go? I'm kinda lost." She admits.
"Oh course. I'll show you the way, come on." He motions his hand for her to follow, as he walks down a hall.
She quickly follows behind, having a hard time keeping up with him since he takes long strides. When she finally catches up to him the man starts up a conversation.
"I'm James by the way. What's your name?" He ask sudden.
"Oh, my name's Lauren." She smiles.
"Lauren...I like it. You seeing anyone Lauren? If you don't mind me asking?" James said with a smile of his own.
"I'm married. Happily married. You seeing anyone?" She asked next.
He shook his head. "Nah, I haven't found the right one yet."
The way he said it sounded weird, but she shook it off. She just decided it was best to be silent, rather than start up a conversation. Her main focus was to get this job more than anything. She looked over at James and saw him staring at her as if he was trying to figure something out. He must of notice himself and suddenly looked away.
"Sorry about that. It just feels good to know that you're qualifying to be an officer at Kengsiton police station. We need all the people we can get. Like they say, the bigger the better right?" He grinned to himself as he continued to lead the way.
Lauren just smiled as she listened to him ramble on. She wasn't really listening to everything he said, so just nodded to show him she was. Once they made it at the end of the hall James stopped in front of a door with the heading of, 'Cheif poliemen.'
"Well, this is it." He turned to face her.
"I guess it is. Thanks for showing me the way James." She thanks him.
"Don't thank me, it was nothing. I'm sure I'll see you around soon." He flashed her a charming grin before turning around and walking back down the hall.
"Hmm...he seems nice." She says to herself before turning back around to face the door. She slowly lifted up her hand and gave three loud knocks.
Now we wait. She thinks to herself before suddenly hearing an older voice of a man.
"Whoever it is it can wait!" Came the voice.
Lauren wasn't sure if she should say anything or not, but she did anyway.
"I'm here for the interview....?" She said unsure for herself.
It was silent until she heard some foot steps coming to the door. Then all of a sudden, the door opened revealing an older looking man with snow white hair. He had bags under his eyes, as if he hardly gets any sleep. The man just gave her a look before stepping aside to let her enter.
"Very well, come in." The old man said with a yawn.
Lauren just entered slowly, taking in the office bland surroundings. She heard the man close the door behind him and made his way back behind his desk. She watched him sit down in his chair and gave a professional posture as he faced her.
"So, your here for the interview corrcet?" Came the old man.
"Yes I am. I just moved here last Friday, and was looking for a station to transfer as a cop." She explained. She might have spoken calmly, but she was freaking out inside. Like literally.
The man studied her face for about a minute before speaking. "Well what's you're name?"
"Lauren Jhonson."
"Lauren....Jhonson...." He said her name as if he was practicing it.
"Let me see you're police records." He asked her firmly.
Lauren obliged and handed him her folder that held her records as a cop. She felt her hands began to shake, once the folder was out of her hand. She just only hope she was qualified. One mistake is all it takes for you not to be able to get a good job.
"Hmm... you seem like you would make a decent cop here." Came the old man as he flipped through the pages of the file. "But, tell me why is it that you want to be here?"
Lauren looked him directly in the eyes. "So I can bring justice to this station sir. I believe having me on the force would help you a lot."
"Are you up for the risk?"
"I'm always up for risk." She said with a faint smile.
The old finally made eye contact with her, and flashed a smile. "Welcome to the force Jhonson."
The look on her face was unreadable as she stood shock. The only question that went through her mind at the moment was, really?
Unable to believe it, she just had to ask. "Are you serious? Don't I need to take a test to prove I'm qualified?"
The old man smiled. "You do, but I can tell that you're serious about this so don't disappoint me ya here? Also the names Fred Coleman, but adress me as my last name."
"Alright, so when do I start exactly?"
"Tomorrow. Be here by 9am sharp for practice." His smile disappeared with a more serious look.
"And I'll keep your files to get more information about you. I'll be seeing you soon. "
"Yes thank you Mr. Coleman. I'll be on my way now." She couldn't help the smile that broke out on her face.
Leaving out, she couldn't even contain the joy she felt at the moment. Everything was going just as she wanted it. Maybe living in Georgia won't be so bad after all. But that's what she thought.
