Am I dead?
You looked around, but saw nothing.
Everything was pitch black.
"Hello? Is anyone there?" You called out.
Nothing.
You raised your voice. "Hello!?"
You were blinded by the sudden light in front of you.
After the light faded, you widened your eyes.
"Mother...?"
The woman smiled.
"Mother!" You hugged her.
"Why yes, sweetie." She spoke. "What happened to you?"
You scratched your head. "I can't remember... I think I got hit by a car."
She sighed.
" Actually, you sacrificed your life for your dear friend, didn't you?"
You froze. Back when your mother was alive, she was a selfish woman who only cared about you, and not anyone else.
You lowered your head. You expected her to nag at you.
But, you felt her smile and she patted your head.
"Why, you are a really kind-hearted girl. I'm proud of you."
"Mother?"
"Don't worry. I'm not mad. Since you love him so much that you actually died for him, it would be unpleasant to just let him be affected like that. I shall give you another chance to live. Don't waste it."
You widened your eyes, then nodded in joy.
"Thank you mother!"
"I will always be watching you. I'll keep you safe."
You smiled, giving your mother a one last hug.
The woman in front of you soon glowed, and faded away. You smiled.
"Arigatou."
