Chapter 6: Betrayed Trust
Stella’s POV
After the incidents that happened, it’s like the barriers between me and Derrick came crashing down one by one. The thing he doesn’t understand is that why I forgave my friends who “betrayed” me. I told him that they are my friends still and I have to forgive them. Also, Derrick and I are kind of “very good friends”. That’s cool, right?
Sadly, it’s kind of secret to most of the people. So in school, we’re still separated by the popularity thing. Derrick is smart and he is handsome. He’s hot too. But because he was “loser-like” and hangs out with “losers” like Jamie, we can’t really be open about our friendship to everybody.
And then… There’s this project. It was for our Physics class. We are to think of ways to prove how Physics is necessary for life and things like that. It was by pairs and luckily Derrick is my partner. I’m kind of excited. It is due after a week.
“So what cool ideas do you have?” I asked Derrick in our class.
“I don’t have right now… It seems like I need an inspiration,” he said.
“How about—“ I began to say but then the bell rang for lunch.
“See ya,” he said before leaving.
“You too.”
I sat down the table-for-popular people. I’m rolling my eyes here.
“Yuck,” my friend, Allie said. “I mean, how could Mr. Hewlett do that to you? Pairing you up with Derrick Delve?”
I laughed nervously. “I know right?” I hate lying.
“How are you and Joe?” Sam asked. She’s my other friend.
“We’re fine,” I said, keeping it short.
“I don’t see you with him anymore!” Allie said. “And I never even saw you and him kissing.”
I rolled my eyes. “Why would we kiss? It’s not like we’re deeply in love, are we?”
I don’t even know where those news that Joe and I are an item. It’s like it just spread at our school. If you ask me, I’ll bet that Joe spread that. Like he told every single person in school. Clan doesn’t believe that, of course but almost everybody does and I freaking hate that.

“So how will we do the project?” I asked Derrick as we walk our way home. I don’t need my crutches anymore. But there’s still this support on my leg. And yes, we’re walking home together. But it’s not the whole time. I wait for him at the curve before our street.
He laughed a careless laugh. “I don’t really know. Do you want to go for a walk?” he said.
“Aren’t we walking now?” I asked. It was my time to laugh.
