It was 9:30, the moving trucks were gone, and half the stuff was already put away. I stood at the entrance of my new room, it didn't feel like my room. I told my mom I would be open minded but I just don't feel okay. This doesn't feel real, I mean this isn't my home, none of this is really mine. I walked towards the mirror and stared at myself, I felt lost. This isn't where I am supposed to be, I just can't tell my mom that. She is gonna give me that look again, then I'll have to lie and tell her that I'm gonna try to make this place feel like home.
"Lexie!" I heard my mom call. "Yeah?" I said as I jogged downstairs. I walked to the living room, "Hey so me and dad were gonna order pizza for dinner. I don't feel like cooking tonight. Did you want anything?" She asked me. "Uh.. I'll just take a slice of whatever." I said as I leaned against the wall. "Okay." she said with a smile. I slowly walked away. "Hey!" I turned to look at her. Her face had a worried expression, "You okay?" I forced a smile, "Yeah." I headed back upstairs and into my room. I put my long blonde hair into a pony tail as I sat on my bed. I sighed and stared at the bare walls. I sat for what seemed like eternity until my mom peered her head though the doorway. "Hey baby, can I come in?" I nodded and positioned myself to sit in the center of my bed. My mom plopped down in front of me. "Okay. Tell me everything now." She said. "What do you mean?" I asked. "Tell me how you feel. Let me know so I can help you." I stared at her hopeful eyes. "I don't want to be here mom. I get why we had to move I just don't get why I had to come with you." "You're 18, honey." She responded. "Exactly, I'm an adult! I could've just stayed at home and I could go to school with my friends until I graduated then go to college." I said. "You're 18 and you live with your mom and dad, you don't have a job, therefore you don't have any income. You aren't responsible enough to take care of a house, you are just starting to grow up and for us to let you live in a house by yourself is ridiculous." "I think it's ridiculous that we all had to move because dad made a mistake that ruined our family name." I said. "Stop it Lexie! Don't be rude, he apologized okay! Get over it." she said. "Get over it? Mom! He ruined us! I am not gonna sit here and pretend that what he did is okay. That is ridiculous. I am not gonna get over it, I have feelings. I have the right to feel what I am feeling. You don't get to sit there and tell me how I am supposed to feel! I am hurt and mad! Let me be hurt and mad!" I exclaimed. She stared at me as tears flooded her eyes. "Fine, be how ever you want to be. Just don't bring up the past, you know it hurts me." "It's not the past, it just happened and the wounds are still fresh." I said. "Six months ago is when everything happened." She reminded me. "That still doesn't mean in six months my wounds are healed, and I know for sure your wounds are still open." She looked away. "Look at me right now and tell me that your wounds aren't open. Look at me right now and tell me!" I said as my tears escaped. "I-" She shook her head. "I knew it." I whispered. We were interrupted by the door bell and my mom quickly stood up and wiped away her tears. She walked towards the door way and turned to look at me one more time until she walked out. I sighed as I leaned against the headboard and the tears strolled down my cheek.
I stared at my ceiling as I listened to my music. My mom and I don't fight too much, but when we do it holds emotion. We don't fight over little things, we fight over things that have meaning, like what happened with my dad. We both have our different feelings and views on things and we fight about that a lot. I just wanted to be in my bed in my home, I wanted to be able to know that my friends could show up whenever they wanted, I want to feel okay again. But, unfortunately I'm here. I have no one. I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
