"You did what?!?!" I stood in the kitchen staring at Blake who was a little upset at the fact that I told him that we were going to dinner with his father tonight. "He really cares about you, and I know that deep down he wanted to see you Blake!" I grabbed his hands so that he would focus on me. "I just don't understand why we had to meet tonight." He said. "Cause I know that you two wouldn't make a plan about it. I had to just come up with something. But please, this is gonna work. You and your dad can talk about whatever, catch up on life. I'll just sit there and watch. It'll all be great! I promise." I said with a smile. I noticed this unsettling look on his face so I leaned up and kissed him and a smile grew on his face. "You drive me insane." He said. I just laughed and rolled my eyes. "I'm gonna get ready." I said.
We ended up walking to the restaurant cause it was short distance from where we lived. Blake and I got there first and we were seated immediately. I noticed Blake was nervous as he was looking around the room to find his father. I reached over and grabbed his hand, "Hey, calm down. It's gonna be okay." I said. He just nodded his head and looked down at the menu. "What were you gonna get?" I asked. "I don't know, either chicken or steak." We both looked down at the menu and talked over different plates we were interested in. "Well, good evening you two." Blake and I looked up to see Mr. Henry standing there with a smile on his face. Next to his was the blonde I saw in the picture, Amy. I looked over to see Blake staring at her. I couldn't read his face but I had a feeling he didn't want Amy here. "Hi, dad." He said. "What, no hug?" Mr. Henry asked. Blake stood up and hugged his father awkwardly. "Son, this is Amy, my girlfriend. Amy this is Blake, my son." He introduced the two then turned towards me. "Hello Lexie! Amy this is Lexie, my assistant." "Hi! Nice to meet you!" I stood up and shook her hand, and they both sat down. I looked at Blake who was obviously uncomfortable. He kept looking at Amy as if he was forced to study her. "So what are you kids having tonight?" George asked. Blake didn't answer so to cut the tension I answered, "Well we were debating between the chicken or steak. I actually think the steak would be better. I haven't had any in a while." I said. "Seems great." Amy and George looked over their menus while I looked at Blake. I reached over and squeezed his hand and he looked at me and forced a smile.
This dinner was highly uncomfortable. No one spoke, we just sat there, in silence. I didn't know what to do, I am very determined to get Blake and his dad on good terms. "So, your dad closed on the deal while he was away." I told Blake. "That's great." he said. I then turned towards George, "My mom came over this weekend. It was nice seeing her." "That's nice." Was all he said. "So Blake, how are you doing son?" George asked. "Well, since you asked, I'm fine. How about you dad? How have those trips been, and hows that house you just bought in Seattle?" He asked with a cold tone. "Trips have been great and the house is marvelous. But what do you mean you're 'fine'? Is Lexie not meeting any of your needs?" I made a disgusted face and Blake looked mad. "You know son, if you and Lexie aren't happy you should probably not string her along." He suggested. I was just sitting there awkwardly, he acted as if I wasn't there. "Why are you giving me advice? You're the douche bag who left a sick woman all alone in a tiny little town." Blake spat out. "Oh and you didn't? You ran away with a stranger to travel half the United States. What about your mother? Who is she with? A caretaker?" "She is fine right now. But you left us! I was six years old. I didn't know what I was supposed to do! I'm old enough to make rational decisions and I base those decisions on the people around me, because I am a caring and sensitive person, unlike you!" Blake spat out. "The world doesn't need a caring or sensitive person. The world needs a strong man who knows how to handle his life responsibly. You need to learn how to do things on your own. You are going to be taking after my business soon and you need to learn how to do things correctly. If my business falls apart, it's on you." George said as he took a sip of his wine. "You don't deserve to tell me what the world needs! You don't even know what I need!" Blake grew louder. "You don't know anything about me! You weren't there for the majority of my life! You left us, you were a coward and you couldn't take care of your sick wife and six year old son! I don't your stupid business, I don't want anything from you! I just want you to leave me alone!" Blake stood up and threw his napkin on the table and stormed out. I got up and ran after him.
"Just leave me alone!" He yelled at me. "Blake, please listen to me." I pleaded as I grabbed his arm. He shrugged me off and stepped away from me, "NO! You've done enough! Just get away from me!" He asked away and I stood there with tears in my eyes. "You don't deserve that." I heard George's deep voice from behind me. I quickly turned around and faced him."What is wrong with you?!" I yelled at him. "I didn't do anything, its that boyfriend of yours." "No! You are his father! You need to support him, love him, and care for him! He isn't an employee of yours, he is your child! You're only child! You left him and I gave you the opportunity to fix your problem tonight but you screwed it up just like you screwed his life up!" I turned around and went to get a cab.
I needed to walk around a bit so I walked around Central Park. I felt so bad about this night, I knew Blake was upset with me, and it hurt me to think that he couldn't trust me anymore. I'm sure he has negative feelings towards me right now and I understand why, but I just want to know that he is okay. I'm sure he's home right now and that's why I'm at the park, so I can give him some space. It's what he needs. I walked around for about thirty minutes then sat down on a bench for another thirty minutes until I realized I needed to go back home. I slowly stood up and walked all the way home.
