It's been a few weeks now. We explored around Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, a different part of New York, Cleveland and Detroit. Now we were on our way to Kentucky. "So what was your favorite place so far?" He asked. "I think Maine. Going on the boat in the middle of the night was so much fun! The sky is so beautiful at night." I gushed. "Yeah it is." He agreed. I grabbed the aux cord and started to look through my music, "What do you wanna listen to?" I asked. "Play me something I've never heard before." Uh, okay... Have you heard of Ben Rector?" "Nope." My eyes grew big, "What?!" He looked at me and laughed at the crazed look on my face. "Ben Rector is my favorite! I don't know if you'll like him though..." "Just play it." I pressed play and Brand New started playing. "I love this song!" I turned the volume up and started singing and dancing along. Once my performance ended I looked to see Blake's reaction. "That's a really good song, but I think he's got some competition. You seem to be a good performer." I laughed. "Did you really like it? The song I mean, not my performance." "No, he's actually really good. Play some more." I raised the volume up more as the music played.
"I want all his music to play at my wedding." I admitted. "Really? Why?" He asked. "Because he sings the kind of love that I want. He is so in love with his wife, like genuinely in love with her and you can hear it in his music. I want a love like that. The way he sings about her is something I yearn for. I want a guy to look at me and love me like crazy. I feel like relationships now are a bust. Guys want a girls body and the girls just want a hot guy. Love is fading." "Yeah. I think about my perfect girl a lot and I love her, a lot. I remember sitting on my porch and seeing this couple walk down the street with their kids and dog and I couldn't wait to find my special someone. I want someone that I genuinely love and do crazy stuff with. I want someone that I can spend forever with." "You love her already?" I asked. "Yeah." "But you haven't met her yet." He smiled and looked at me, "Yeah I have." "But, you're not with her. You're with me." I said. "I know who I'm with." He looked back at the road and I looked out the window. I don't know what to think, I wonder who she was, I mean surely it can't be me. How can he love me? He can't love me. All of this was crazy, but who ever she is, she is one lucky girl. He was so sweet and caring and genuine. He was perfect.
"The stars look amazing tonight." He said. "Yeah." I smiled at the sky. He pulled over and I looked at him in confusion. "What are you doing?" I asked. "Come on." He got out of the car and I watched as he came to my side and opened the door for me. I grabbed his hand that he held out for me and I got out of the car. He grabbed a blanket from the back of the car and wrapped it around me. "Thanks." I leaned against the car and noticed his near presence. He was shivering so I unwrapped the blanket and handed it to him. "No." He said. "But you're cold." I shoved the blanket in his hands and crossed my arms. I leaned back onto the car and stared at the stars until I felt his hand grab my arm and pull me infant of him with my back facing him. He wrapped the blanket around both of us and I smiled. He wrapped his arms around me and I grabbed his arms just so that I could hold him. I leaned my head back against his chest and smiled.
"Beautiful." He whispered. "I know. I love looking at stars. It's like each star has it's own story and I create lives for it." I chuckled. I felt him come closer to the side of my head and he whispered, "I wasn't talking about the stars." I gulped and my heart started beating faster again. I closed my eyes and breathed. The way his words spoke to me made my knees weak and I was glad I was leaning against him because if I hadn't then I would've fallen. I felt his arms hold me tighter and my smile remained the same. "This sounds like a good song to dance to." I heard Forever Like That by Ben Rector in the car and he turned me around to face him. We walked a few feet away from the car and he brought me closer to him. I wrapped my arms around his sides and he wrapped his arms around me and we danced. My head leaned against his chest and I smiled contently as the song played. We swayed back and forth and it was perfect. I would've never thought that this would be my life. I dreamed about dancing to a Ben Rector song but not in this circumstance, I pictured my wedding.
"It's me." I whispered. "What's you?" He said. I picked my head up to look at him so that I could read his expression, "I'm the girl you love." His eyes were staring at me and he swallowed. "It's weird." Was his response. "How? Why? We kind of just met and you love me." "I ask that every time I look at you." He said. " Do you remember when we first saw each other?" he asked. I nodded my head yes. We were done dancing now and we were just holding each other and looking into each other eyes. "I felt something. Something that I never thought I could. Your eyes were so mesmerizing, they still are, but the first time was amazing. My heart was doing this weird thing and my stomach felt as if something was growing. You looked so lost and confused yet so beautiful. Then when I saw you at the store I saw the cute doe eyed look again. I debated on talking to you but Mr. Harrison asked if you needed help and I decided I shouldn't. Then I met you." He laughed then continued, "You were so nervous to talk to me." I chuckled as I remembered the day. "I don't know why I asked you to run away with me. I just had to. There's something about you that called me, something that wanted me to be with you. This trip isn't planned, I just wanted to run away and I wanted you to run away with me." "How can you love me?" I asked. "I just can. I can't say yet, but when I can I will. I want you to know, but I don't know even know. I just feel the love I have for you. I know it's there and I know it's real." I looked at him and I could tell he meant it. He was so serious and genuine. I smiled at him and he smiled back. I hugged him and laid my head on chest and we just stood there.
