It's been a few weeks since I've started working with Mr. Henry, it's still awkward between us, I still think he doesn't like me. Me and Blake are doing just fine and I'm loving my life in New York. My mom is coming today which is exciting and I absolutely can't wait to see her. This is also the first time she's meeting Blake so hopefully things go well. Blake's dad was going away on business so I don't have to go in for a week which is amazing. He goes on business trips a lot so I have a lot of days off from work, which is definitely a plus. Although I am thankful for the job, I just don't really see it as my dream job. Hopefully I can find something that I can really fall in love with.
I heard a knock on the front door and ran towards it to open the door. I saw my mom and hugged her tightly, "You made it!" I exclaimed. "I sure did! How are you?" She asked with a chuckle. "Good! Come in!" I picked up her bags and let her in the apartment. "This place is so nice Lexie!" She gushed. "I know! Blake picked it out. We flew in from LA and arrived here. It's amazing." I said with a smile. "Well, when do I get to meet him?" she asked in a hushed tone. "He left to go get some bagels and coffee, I was gonna show you around a bit and he should be back soon." I said. She nodded and smiled and I began showing her the apartment.
"I absolutely love it. This is amazing and beautiful, and the view of Central Park is to die for." She continued to gush. The door opened and in came Blake with coffee and bagels. "Hey honey, sorry I took so long. There was a massive line, and this guy in front of me took forever. I swear we were in line for thirty minutes and once it was his turn he then tried deciding on what he wanted to order, and he order like fifty bagels. It was insane. But I got a variety cause I didn't know what your mom liked." He said as he put everything down in the kitchen. He then looked up to see us sitting on the couch, "Oh! Hi! Hey! Nice to meet you! I didn't know you were her!" He frantically made his way towards us and my mom stood up to greet him. "Hi, it's nice to meet you. I'm Michelle and you must be Blake." She said with a smile. "Nice to meet you too. I'm so glad you made it here safely. Would you like a bagel?" He asked. I laughed at the interaction, I could tell he was nervous and he wanted everything to be perfect I loved that about him. He wanted everything to be right. We all headed into the kitchen, grabbed some bagels and coffee and made our way to the dining table.
"So what's on the agenda today?" Blake asked. "I don't really know, whatever my mom wanted to do." I said. "Oh, don't look at me. I don't really care." my mom said. "Well I was gonna let y'all girls do whatever you wanted. I figured you two wanted to hang out since you haven't seen each other in a while. I was gonna meet up with some friends and just hang out." He said. "Oh okay. Yeah we can go window shopping, and have some lunch, stroll around Central Park. It'll be great." I said as I smiled at my mom. "Okay, sounds fine by me." She said. "Well you girls have fun, and I'm leaving Dave for you." He said. "Dave?" My mom questioned. "Our driver." I answered. "Didn't you say you had reservations tonight? We were doing dinner right?" I asked. "Oh, that was for tomorrow. Remember i have that event tonight for my dad's business. This is his way to get me to start working." He said as he rolled his eyes. "Okay, well have fun, and I won't see you till later tonight then." I said. "Okay, love you, and have fun. Oh, and go crazy!" He said as he handed me his credit card, he then bent down and kissed my cheek. "Bye Michelle!" He said as he left the apartment. "You too are so grown up." my mom said. I just laughed and took a bite into my bagel. "Where are the little ones?" i asked referring to my sisters. "With your dad, they haven't seen him in a while, so I figured this would be a good time." She said. "What? A while? Has he been on business?" I asked. "Let's get ready to go." She said. I sat there and stared at her then realized that me just staring at her would waste time so I went to my closet and got dressed.
We were walking down fifth avenue with a few bags on our arms and we were getting hungry. We found a little cafe and decided to try it out. "So how is everything back in Red Pine?" I asked once we were seated. "Good, I started writing again." My mom is an author so far she's written three books and now she's on her fourth. "How are you and dad?" I wanted an answer, I could tell by the conversation this morning that things weren't good. "Fine." she responded. "Mom..... How are you and dad?" She looked down at her menu and I began to inspect her, i noticed she didn't have her ring on. "Where is it?" I asked. She looked at me confused. "The ring. Where's the ring?" She moved her hand out of sight as if I would forget about it. "Mother, what is going on?" I asked. She sighed heavily. "Once you left we started fighting, and I realized that you were right. I couldn't stand seeing him, he ruined me, he broke me. I thought I loved him, but after all he's done there isn't any love left to give. Not only had he ruined our family but he pushed you away." She started crying and my heart broke. "Mom, please don't cry." I reached my hand out and held hers. "But it's true. You left because of him and I am not gonna let him push everyone away. We already lost our city and you, what else am I gonna lose?" She asked. Tears started forming, "I'm sorry for leaving." I said. "It's okay honey. At least you're happy." She said. "Yeah..." I responded. "So where are the girls?" I asked. "We decided that they could see him while I'm over here. Our divorce won't be finalized for another few months, and we already agreed that he could see the kids whenever except for holidays. He can see them before or after Thanksgiving and Christmas." "Where is he living?" I asked. "In Red Pine still, but he's with some guy. He lives above a restaurant. He told me he wants to move somewhere else though." I rolled my eyes, "Are you happy?" I asked. She just looked at me and I could from her eyes she wasn't. "Well do you still wanna live in Red Pine?" I asked. She shook her head no. "I can ask Blake to help find you a place here, maybe get you a job too." I offered. "No honey, it's okay. I'm gonna stay there, we just bought the house and we might as well live in there for a while. But let's move onto Blake. He is actually really attractive!" She gushed. "Mom, he's mine." I said with a laugh. "I have to say I'm jealous. So how are you two?" She asked. "Really good, he's so god to me. He cares about me so much. He talked his dad into getting me to work for him." I said. "He what?! What are you doing? You have a job?" She was surprised and I laughed her shocked face. "Yeah, I work for his dad who is an international insurance consultant. I'm his assistant." I said. "And how is it? Do you like it?" "Well it's not my dream job per say but it's a job and it pays well! I am telling you I don't know if it's cause Blake is my boyfriend or he likes me, but I am doing well financially." I said. "I am so happy for you! I cannot wait to see what the rest of your life has in store for you." She said in a sentimental tone. "I know. Me too. I'm so young and I feel like i have so much in store for me but I'm already doing mature things like having a job, and not one of those grocery store bagger type of job, but at an actual corporation." I said. "How's his dad?" my mom asked referring to Mr. Henry. "He's very businessy and professional. I don't think he likes me but I guess he's alright. He's really tough and really passionate in what he does." "I'm sure he likes you." My mom said. "Nope. But whatever, he doesn't really like a lot of people so I don't take it too personally." I said as I took a sip of my water. "Well since we are alone I figured we could talk about something." My mom said in a serious tone. "Okay..." "You and Blake have been alone together for a while now. I know you love him and he means a lot to you. I also know that you are really maturing for your age, given you have a home and a job and your own driver, but just be aware that you are still young." "Mom, what are you talking about?" I asked. "Well, I just want you to be safe." "I am safe, I don't really go out alone or with strangers." I said. "No, I mean safe as in being intimate." "Mom! Stop! I am not having this conversation with you!" I said is disgust. "Are you two intimate with each other?" She asked which caused me to squirm. Truth be told, yes we both get intimate with each other. We are safe and so far I'm not pregnant so I think I'm doing good. "No mom, we aren't." Not that it was any of her business. "You're lying. Just don't get pregnant anytime soon. I'm sure you and Blake wanna travel the world together and having a kid around makes it difficult. Oh and you're too young." "Mom. Let's not talk about this please." "Fine. But always know I love you!" I smiled, "I love you too."
