Chapter 4!

I woke up earlier than Caroline and Elena, I couldn't handle them or anyone else for that matter so I grabbed my jacked and headed out early. I didn't have anywhere to go... I grabbed a latte, walked through the park and even tried calling Enzo. He pulled a really low move the other night, and even though we didn't end on the greatest terms, he was the only person I can handle being around at the moment. Matt and I were officially over, I was going to do my best not to think about him and let him go on with his happy, vampire free life. Enzo never answered my calls or texts so I left a voicemail.

"Hey, Enzo... I know last night was probably the worst hangout in the history of hangouts... and I admit, we were both jerks... but we both know you're not going to avoid me forever... so can you please call me when your done with your tantrum, that'd be great" I say and hang up. I was about to put my phone away when Caroline called me.

"Hey" I answer as peppy as I can.

"Hey, where are you?" She asks.

"I'm getting coffee" I tell her. "Just wanted to clear my head, with caffeine apparently".

"Well we need your help, the girl who's memory you compelled the other day, well she's gone and the compulsion was gone when she stepped over the border, she knows about us and we need to find her" Caroline says and I knew it's an issue.

"Uh... crap, okay where are you?" I ask and as soon as she tells me I'm on my way to meet her. I head for the Mystic Falls border and I'm a little surprised when I see Stefan there, on a motorcycle. He didn't notice me since he was talking on the phone with someone. The last time I seen Stefan I was letting him go and watching him walk out of my life forever, it was strange seeing him after that. He hung up the phone and awkwardly glanced my way.

"Thought you'd be long gone by now" I say as he puts his phone away.

"Elena asked for my help. This girl, Sara, she knows about you all" He says.

"Yeah... I know I just didn't know you still cared" I said still tender from our interaction last night. He didn't say anything else to me after that, he knew I was hurt. So we just stood there and waited for Caroline which wasn't long because well... it's Caroline.

"Hey guys, thanks for helping us. Me and Elena searched the border three times already which means this girl is still in Mystic Falls." She says.

"Why don't you just ask Matt or Jeremy to bring her here then?" I ask.

"Because she's hiding and if she's planning on leaving I want to be one step ahead, so partner up" She says and I immediately walk over to Caroline knowing neither of us wanted to be stuck with Stefan for the day. "Elena will be here shortly Stefan" I say as Caroline and I take off to start patrolling the border again.

"Thank you for coming with me, I could not stand a day with him" She said looking gloomy at the sight of him.

"I tried to understand it, I mean for the last few months I did. I tried to start over and leave this place but..." I couldn't finish my sentence.

"It's home" Caroline finished for me, like it was the obvious answer. I looked at her sympathetically. My phone vibrated but it was only Elena texting me to let us know she was with Stefan.

"Expecting someone else?" Caroline asked pushily. I looked up to her and she had a knowing look on her face.

"What are you racking up in that brain of yours Caroline Forbes?" I nudged.

"Uhm, tall, dark, British, annoyingly charming" She says giving my judgey eyes.

"Fine. I admit, I'm bummed because Enzo is dodging my calls. We had this... argument last night at the party" I spill.
