Today was Jeremy's going away party, I decided to put all of my other issues aside. I was told to go and meet everyone at The Grill which I somewhat found appropriate and somehow completely bizarre. Although I must have been super early because when I walked in... it was just Jeremy, Alaric, and Matt...

"Uh Hi" I said completely clueless and wishing I had waited for Elena or Damon or someone.

"Hey" They all chimed at me as I went and took a seat.

"I'm not interrupting some three-way bromance goodbye thing am I?" I ask nervously and laugh.

"Not really, just a regular old goodbye shot" Alaric says welcoming.

"Well I am always down for one of those... but let me grab the good stuff" I say getting up and walking to the back room. I really just needed a minute to collect my thoughts and check my outfit and hair. I remembered ignoring Matt's call last night, and was trying really hard to remember that I wanted time to figure out myself and what I actually wanted from Matt, and what was really best for the both of us. I knew I needed to stand my ground until I was absolutely sure about our future. I walked back out with a bottle of whiskey but I stopped immediately when I seen Matt talking to this beautiful human girl... I'd never seen her before. Matt was showing her around the bar, I was trying to keep it together and Jeremy was just trying to take his damn shot but just as he was about to down it, I swiped it from him and tossed it back.

"Sorry... I really don't know what came over me" I say pouring two more for us and sliding one his way, but before we could take that one... Damon and Elena walk in to "congratulate" him on graduating.

Everyone was mingling and doing their own thing even though it was supposed to be a going away party... I happened to notice Matt was finally alone for a second, while his friend was taking shots of the bar. I tossed back another shot and was about to go say hello when her voice stopped me.

"Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Sara" She said holding her hand out to me.

"Aurora" I say hoping my name would spring up some sort of realization, but when it didn't I felt a little blue.

"Are you a friend of Matts?" She asks me.

"Yeah... uh, how do you two know each other?" I ask sipping my drink.

"Uh, we haven't known each other that long, he was stuck at Duke and I helped him get back home, even after he tried to pick me up using some corny camera pick up line" She joked and I faked a laugh.

"Well... it was nice meeting you... sorry, what was your name again?" I ask her.

"Sara" She said sweetly, and something just clicked... Sara... Sara Salvatore.

I went out back, trying to hopefully clear my mind with some fresh air but shortly after... Jeremy came out looking really stealth.

"Oh, hey, what are you doing out here?" He asks.

"Wallowing in self pity... care to join? Oh wait, you have nothing to wallow in, your getting out of here" I say teasingly.

"Right... I guess Matt's friend kind of caught you off guard?" He asks.

"More than off guard... she completely sprung up out of nowhere" I sitting on the edge of the steps and he came and sat beside me. "I wonder if he hates me..." I say out of nowhere.

"I thought things were ok?" He asks.

"They... were fine, really... but..." I drifted off not even finishing my sentence.
