Chapter 19

I had Matt back in my life; we weren't picking up where we left off, we were starting fresh. We knew our love ran deep, our love was strong enough to let go of the past and focus on our lives now. I was happy as I walked down the hospital hallways and heading to his room to pick him up.

"Hey you" I say as I walk in on him trying to put his jacket on and struggling. I rush over to help him get it on since he refused Elena's blood and wanted to heal naturally. I respected Matt's choices because everything he did, was done on his own terms. He was a strong person and I was proud of him.

"Thank you" He said hiding his embarrassment and pulling me in for a soft kiss.

"I really missed that" I said sinking into him.

"Yeah, I know what you mean. This is the first time in a long-time that things feel kind of normal" He tells me and I look back up at him. It touched me that he referred to being with me as his normal now when for so long I had always felt like I was the one that made his life hectic but now I was referred to as his normal. It made me smile like an idiot but I let it happen anyway.

"So, doctor's orders ... home and rest? Since you respectfully want to heal on your own; which I don't mind because the scar will be so hot. But I have promised to help Stefan get Caroline off the no humanity train." I tell him.

"Well the doctor said I needed to stay home ... he didn't say I had to be alone" Matt said giving me that all familiar flirty look.

"Charming and tempting ... but we need our friend back, I need obsessive, overly-caring Caroline back" I tell him. "But don't worry, I'll be thinking of you ... and hopefully you'll be thinking of me too" I say giving him a seductive look.

"I Definitely will" he says before I take his hand and we head to the car.

After I dropped Matt off I was heading straight to Grove Hill which is currently where Damon had captured Caroline, which is where Stefan had lured her so we could finally get her to flip her switch back. Stefan did now have his humanity back on, thanks to Lilly. Although Lilly, came with her own set of problems, right now we were not too concerned with them. Our focus was getting Caroline back.

It had been 3 days since Caroline and Stefan were locked up in a crummy B&B room in Grove Hill. Our plan, well Stefan's plan was to drain her, starve her and do whatever necessary to bring her back. So here we were, giving it our best shot.

Elena and I were currently walking in to take over watch for Jo and Ric, but we ended up just walking in on them heavily making out.

"Oh dear... we're sorry... we thought this was Caroline Duty" I tease.

"We were keeping a very close watch on your friends" Jo defends, still on Ric's lap.

"Yeah, I can see that" Elena laughs.

"You can take it over to the hotel if you want ... we're here to relieve you" I joke as Jo rushes out as fast as possible.

"Yeah ... so there's supplies there, and cards in case you get bored" He says trying to return to his guardian role.

"Supplies, cards... check" Elena says as I try to hold back laughter.

"Alright, see you in a few hours" He says taking off.
