Right away I saw a banner that read, "Welcome Back to the Grind of the Cubs, Kris Bryant!"

I stood there, frozen in my spot looking up at that banner. I don't know what I was expecting my teammates to do for my return, but clearly it wasn't this.

I must have been standing there for a while because I heard Maddon yell from behind me, "Bryant, are you going to stand there all day?" I jumped  when I heard him.

I followed him into his office and sat on one of the chairs.

"So what happened." And I told him, everything except Margret. "Okay, it's likely that we won't play today since the weather is so bad, but I'm telling you right now that you won't start anymore games this series. I know that you won't think that it is fair, but I think that it is fair for the team."

"Okay, thanks for being honest with me. I am so sorry that this happened. I didn't mean for this to happened. I do know that I am needed here, and I wouldn't have gone if I knew that this would happen." I still felt so bad.

Maddon looked at me in a fathering way. "I know, Kris. You are not that selfish. Things happen, and I am not mad at you. I don't think anyone in this clubhouse is angry with you. Rizzo probably is the angriest, but he was just extremely worried about you. Have you talked to him, yet?"

"Yeah, he said that he's going to kick my ass for my disappearance act," I said with a laugh. "I'm watching my back whenever he's around until everything about this dies down."

Maddon laughed about that also. "This will die in couple of days, but I don't think that you'll have to wait that long for Rizzo."

"Okay, am I done here?" I asked. I heard my teammates return to the clubhouse.

"Yeah, go out and enjoy your welcome back party." I stood up and walked out of his office.
