Chapter 13

Veronica POV
I wake up with Nessa's face right above mine.
"WAKE UP!" She yells out
"AHH" I get up quickly and we bonk heads
"WHAT IS HAPPENING" Vincent wakes up and startles us. I sigh and get dressed. Today, we are going downtown for an interview.
"So, what do you have to do today?" I ask Vincent
"I have to go to the St Luke's hospital with Aaron to investigate our case." He said rubbing his eyes
I can tell he's been having trouble with this case but I know he can do it.
12:30 pm St Luke's Hospital
Vincent POV
Aaron and I drive to the hospital and I park the car
"Hey. Before we get out, I just wanted to say I'm sorry about everything. I was trying to... I guess protect Vanessa." I say
"It's fine. I'm sorry too." He says. "Now, let's catch this douchebag!"
I walk to the front desk and ask where I could find the chief of surgery. I called the chief already and set up a meeting with him.
We arrive at the office and shake the chief of surgery's hand.
"Hello men. So, what is the problem?" He asks

"Well, we are trying to track down a criminal. We looked at this surveillance footage from a few years ago that was in his file. A guy who looked exactly like him rolled in a wheelchair. We were both wondering if you could show us this man's record." Aaron said
We showed him the tape and he said ok. He stood up and walked to his desk. He placed a folder down.

Paralyzed from the waist down. Part of Dr. Patel's Clinical Trial
As I read through, I was confused on way there was little information.
"I don't want to sound pushy or anything but is there any way we can receive more information about him?" I ask

"Oh! Of course. Just talk to Dr. Patel. He is our top neurosurgeon." He said

"Thank you." Aaron said
We walked down to Dr. Patel's office.
"Hello Dr Patel. We are from the LAPD and we are wondering if you have  information about Chase Arrington?" I ask

"Yes I do. He was part of my Clinical Trail a few years ago. I was trying to figure out how to control the nerves in the brain to fix paralysis. I would either put a placebo in the brain or the actual serum. Then there was Chase. He told me he worked in Iraq until he was shot in the spine and was paralyzed. He took an honorable discharge and went home. He received the serum, not the placebo and it worked. But something went wrong. Till this day, I don't know what went wrong. I tested hundreds of patients with the serum but none acted the way Chase did. He was turned into a ballistic sociopath. One day, when a nurse was checking on him, he punched her in the chest and broke three of her ribs. Then, he escaped. We called the police and they found that he somehow managed to cut all of the surveillance cameras. He was insane and I will never forget him." He told us the story with fear in his eyes

"Thank you sir." We walked out and Aaron called the chief. Out of the corner of my eye, I see the twins run towards me.
"What the hell are you guys doing here?" I say shocked

"We finished he interview and wanted to visit!" Veronica says
I kiss her on the lips.
"Ok. We are almost done anyways so just wait her." I say
Vanessa POV
I Sat in the chair and start staring at Aaron. I snapped out off it before he could see me. I need to get my mind off him.
"I'm going to the vending machines. Want anything" I asked

"Nope we're good." Vincent said.
I walked over to get a bag of goldfish. Then, I saw something strange. There was a little devil sign on the numbers for goldfish. I thought it was odd but nothing else. I pressed the buttons. I heard footsteps walk toward me and again didn't think anything off it. I turn around and a cloth is pressed against my face. I was shocked, but before I knew it, I was unconscious.
