Veronica POV
I couldn't contain my happiness. I kept calling Aaron and asking him if he did it yet. Vincent and I are out eating pizza, just waiting for him to call and say they are engaged. Then, I see the guy again. The same guy I thought I saw at the hospital and at Starbucks. I'm not crazy.
"Vincent. He's there again." I point to the guy outside
"Not this again. Babe, stop" he held my hand and ate his pizza.
He drove away. I think he saw me staring at him intently. Maybe, Vincent's right. After the whole El Diablo thing, I've been on edge. The memory of him pointing the gun to my head is engraved in my brain forever.
Aaron POV
"Everything is going perfect!" I tell Veronica over the phone. "We are just about to finish dinner. I'm so nervous"

"I mean rejection is protection!" She said
"Not the time." I say with a nervous chuckle

"Don't be scared. Everything will be alright. I'm so excited and happy and... there's too many emotions I'm feeling right now!" She said.

"Ok. I'll call you later ok. Bye" I say.
We drive to the little cliff area. We could see the bright moon and the sparkling stars up in the sky. The ocean waves were crashing into the beach. It made a loud but soothing buzzing noise every time
"It's so beautiful up here." Vanessa said
"But not as beautiful as you." I softly say
"Awwww! I love it when you get all cheesy." She said with a laugh.
"I love you." I lift up her face and press my lips against hers.
"I love you too." She says back to me

"Remember when were at a baseball game, and you started yelling at everybody because our team was losing?" I asked

"Yeah! That was hilarious." She said

"Well, that was the time I realized I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you." I responded
She looked at me with a confused smile.

"Vanessa J-" before I could finish the sentence I was waiting for my whole life, a gunshot rang through the air and the bullet pummeled into my chest.

The world felt like it was going in slow motion.
I struck the ground, hard. Vanessa threw her crutches aside, bent down and held my hand. My whole world faded into white. I opened my eyes again and saw a door. I proceeded to open it and saw my mom and brother standing in front of me. I tried to walk forward but was stopped by Vanessa's calling voice behind me.

"Aaron! Wake up! Open your eyes!" She yelled. I could faintly see her crying and calling the police. I was transported back to reality. My white shirt, destroyed from the blood gushing out of me. I tried to stay conscious but failed. I was too weak to stay awake. The bullet, that sits inches away from my heart, is like a force field preventing me from going back to Vanessa and the world I know so well. I close my eyes one last time. The bright light shines in my eyes again. It's either Vanessa or my mom and brother. I didn't know what path to take.
