Anna Russett

I woke up at 9:24 A.M. to the sound of a loud clang. I groaned loudly and sat up, assuming that my dad had simply dropped a pot or something. I got out of bed and walked into the kitchen, surprised to see Kian standing there, holding a pot.

"I couldn't sleep," he began to talk quickly, "and I just finally got off the couch, I was going to try and make breakfast, but I can hardly cook. I'm sorry for waking you up!"

"Kian, Kian. It's fine," I laughed, "honestly, it's fine."

He sighed and set the pot on the counter, "do you mind if I just pick up something from Waffle House or something?"

"Go ahead," I smiled, "run along now, you don't want to be here when my parents discover how much noise you've made. I'll cover for you when they wake up."

Kian smiled back and nodded, "thank you. I'm going to go there, now! Goodbye Anna, I'll see you when I return."

"You sound like you're leaving and going to war," I giggled and leaned up against the counter.

"Also, I have another question."

"Which is?"

He sighed and took a step closer to me, and whispered, "what do you think of me proposing to Andrea?"

I instinctively stood upright, knocking the pot back onto the ground. I winced when I heard it clatter right next to my bare foot.

He widened his eyes.

"What?" I lowered my voice, "but Kian, you guys are just so young."

"And in love," he reminded me.

Shaking my head, I leaned down and picked up the pot, "that's not any of my business. You need my parents' blessing, not mine."

"Blessing on what?" Andrea asked, walking in.

We both turned quickly to see Andrea standing there.

"Andrea, hey!" Kian forced a smile, "nothing."

"Blessing on our breakfast. Kian was just about to go and get us some Waffle House, what would you like to order?" I covered for us both, "I'm getting two waffles probably."

Andrea frowned in confusion, "huh?"

"Nothing, you're still tired Andrea." Kian approached her and kissed her forehead, "how'd you sleep?"

She whined, "I was sleeping good, until you turds woke me up."

"That was all on Anna!" Kian looked over at me.

"The first time it was you though," I laughed.

Andrea glared at me, "why were you guys making so much noise anyways?"

"It was accidental," I began, "you see --Kian told me a weird story, and I dropped the pot. Well, I knocked it over. He dropped it and I don't know why. He hasn't slept really."

Kian nodded, "sounds about right."

Andrea shrugged, "whatever."

"Go back to sleep," I instructed, "you need it. Kian will get breakfast, I'll wake you up when he comes back. Plus, mom and dad will be sure to take good care of you when they wake up."

Kian nodded again.

Andrea sighed, "okay. Bye. I'm leaving," she turned around and went back to her room.

I looked at Kian and he looked at me.

"That was close," he laughed.

"Too close," I smiled.

He smiled, "anyways, I'm going to get Waffle House now. What do you want?"

"Just buy everyone a waffle. And buy an extra waffle or two, in case somebody wants extra. Meaning, my dad."

Kian nodded, "be back in a jiffy."

"Yeah, don't ever say that again."

"Jiffy?"

"Yeah, that."

"Why not?"

I laughed, "Kian, just don't ever say that again. Okay? It's old school."

Kian shrugged, "old school is better than whatever is going on these days, I'll be back Anna. Don't burn the house down while I'm gone." He smiled and left, leaving me alone in the house with my sleeping family.
