Third Persons POV

Somehow, after what seemed like an eternity of sobbing and crying and comforting Yoongi, Jungkook managed to get his boyfriend cleaned up, into some vomit free clothes and out the door as quickly as possible.

They had to go to the hospital. To see if Mrs Min was ok, that she wasn't in a bad way. They were both utterly terrified of what they would find when they got there, but staying home was not even considered an option. Not at this point.

Yoongi was in no state to drive, but Jungkook didn't have his license. So he called up Jin and explained what had happened, trying not to cry all over again.

Jin rushed over in his small sedan as soon as he got the call, in such a small amount of time that Jungkook guessed he must have sped and gone through a red light or two to get here. Yoongi was so lucky to have such a caring best friend.

When Jin arrived, he looked utterly exhausted. His soft brown hair wasn't styled like usual and his bright eyes were unusually dull, dark circles framing them. He must have had a rough night, and Jungkook admired him for still rushing to their aid.

But Jin understood better than anyone how Yoongi must be feeling. He was there when Yoongi's mum was diagnosed. Through all the treatment, the chemo, the surgeries. He knew how Yoongi would react and he knew what he had to do.

And Jungkook was glad he was there, even if he wished that he could understand better himself. Understand Yoongi just a bit more.

Jin hugged yoongi as soon as he entered the passenger side of the car and whispered something Jungkook couldn't make out, that made Yoongi nod and let out a small, weak, 'thank you'. Jungkook knew he shouldn't feel jealous. That it was a selfish thing to be feeling at a time like this.

But deep down he wished he was the one who knew exactly what to say, how to drive, how to comfort Yoongi.

It was selfish. And he decided not to dwell on it, as they sped towards the hospital.

———

When they arrived at the hospital, it was hell. They weren't allowed to go into Yoongi's mothers room, and they were given no indication on how she was doing.

It was torture for Yoongi.

As they sat on the light green, almost white coloured plastic seats outside Mrs Min's room, Yoongi couldn't stop shaking. Jungkook draped his flannel shirt he wore over his t-shirt around Yoongi's shoulders, even though it was quite warm out. But Yoongi still shivered.

Jungkook was nervous. Yoongi had gotten bad before, but not as bad as this. He felt helpless, and didn't really know what to do. Jin had gone to get tea, and returned a while later, placing the styrofoam cup in Yoongi's shaking hands.

Yoongi took a sip, and let out a long shaky breath, visibly calmer as the warm liquid made its way down his throat. Jungkook sighed in relief, and Jin nudged him lightly.

"Hey, do you mind if I sit next to Yoongi for a bit Jungkookie?" Jin spoke softly, and gave Jungkook a tired smile. "I know a trick that helps calm him down in this situation."

Jungkook gave Jin a confused look, but nodded and slid across one chair, letting Jin slide in.

"Yoongi-ah, lets calm you down ok?" Jin said, and placed his hands on Yoongi's shoulders. He began to massage Yoongi slowly, pressing his palms into Yoongi's shoulder blades and neck, and squeezing them with his fingers.

"Ah..." Yoongi let out a small sigh, the tension in his shoulders seemingly melting away.

Jungkook watched in awe, and the jealous feeling arose once again. He wished it could be him helping Yoongi to relax, comforting him like that.

But he supposed Jin did work at a day spa, and was a professional. Yeah. Professional... Nothing to be jealous about.

Jungkook couldn't believe he was being so selfish at a time when Yoongi needed him.

When Jin finished the massage, Yoongi gave him a small, weak smile. "Thanks Jin Hyung." He let out softly, and Jungkook was suddenly glad Jin was there.

That because of Jin, his Yoongi was smiling.

———

After an hour and a half Jin had left after getting a phone call from Namjoon. Jungkook assured him it was ok, and Jin nodded, looking guilty, but giving Yoongi a small hug and rushing out the door.

It wasn't soon after Jin left that a doctor finally came to speak to them.

'Doctor Park' was his name, he was extraordinarily tall and had rather large ears, but his smile was kind and warm. It seemed he was familiar with Mrs Min, and greeted Yoongi like an old friend.

"Yoongi, it's good to see you, even if it is in such circumstances." Dr Park spoke in a deep, but warm voice.

"Likewise Chanyeol." Yoongi replied quietly, offering the doctor a small smile. So they were defiantly familiar with each other. It made Jungkook sad to think of the amount of times Yoongi had to have come here for his mum. All the times it would have been him picking up the calls at 6:30am in the morning instead of Jungkook. All the times Yoongi would have been alone, driving to see his mum, waiting in the uncomfortable plastic hospital seats for hours at a time.

He held Yoongi's hand and gave it a squeeze. As if to say, 'It's ok, I'm with you now. You're not going to go through this alone.'

"Your mother is ok, but she's on oxygen at the moment. Her blood flow isn't at its best. Similar to last time... I'm afraid she'll have to go into surgery tomorrow at the very latest." Doctor Park, or Chanyeol rather, explains.

Yoongi sucks in a breath and holds Jungkook's hand tighter. Jungkook kisses Yoongi's ear, and Chanyeol's gaze follows it, eyes widening in understanding, giving Jungkook a small nod. An un-spoken 'thank you for being here' it seemed.

Chanyeol cleared his throat and looked at the two, a sad look in his eyes.

"This is hard to say Yoongi..." Chanyeol spoke up again, and looked to the floor. "I don't know how to say this but... It's likely that... It's likely the cancer is spreading."

The words hit Jungkook like a ton of bricks, and it seemed the same for Yoongi too, who fell to his knees once again.

Jungkook can't really remember clearly what happened after that.

There was a lot of crying. Mostly from Yoongi, but also from Jungkook. There was a lot of whispering comforting words that for Yoongi seemed to have empty meaning as he sobbed even harder, soaking Jungkook's t-shirt with salty tears. There was a heartbroken look from Chanyeol who kept repeating "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry Yoongi" again and again.

There was the overwhelming sense of dread. That Mrs Min wasn't going to make it.

But there was also a glimmer of hope, that she would. And as Jungkook held his broken boyfriend in his arms, he hoped that he could hold onto that hope, and that Yoongi and Dr Park and Yoongi's mother could too.

Because with hope, just maybe, even just for a little while, everything would be ok.
