Sutton
When I wake up in the morning, my neck is a little bit sore and I'm still tired because I didn't get very much sleep last night. When I open my eyes, however, I'm forgetting about how crappy I physically feel because the first thing that I see when I open my eyes is Jonah's sleeping face right beside mine.
We had fallen asleep together on my couch last night watching movies. We'd watched at least three before I remember getting dozy and falling asleep on his shoulder. We are under the same blanket because we were cuddling all night despite Lana's terrible and awkward comments. Despite her efforts, she did not make it weird.
As slowly and quietly as I can, I stand up from the couch and go back into the bathroom to pee and brush my hair and teeth. I can't hear Lana walking around so she's either still asleep or not here. I didn't check the time so I'm not sure how early it is. I check my hair in the mirror to make sure that I look alright and then I return to the front area. Jonah is still asleep so I go into the kitchen and start making something for breakfast.
The oven tells me that it's only nine in the morning which is strange for me because I'm usually sleeping until at least eleven on the weekends. Lana is probably still asleep too so I'll throw on some eggs and pancakes for her too.
Every once in a while, as I'm scrambling the eggs, I'll glance up at Jonah and a smile will spread across my face. Nothing romantic happened last night but it was still a really amazing night. Even though all we did was watch movies, we didn't really do anything exciting. But just being around him, hanging out with him, is awesome. And it will always make me smile.
He's really great and funny and incredibly kind and I wanted to hear him talk, to tell me everything about him, forever. But unfortunately, we had to sleep because that's a thing that humans sometimes have to do. I'm not sure what the mood is going to be when he wakes up but I'm finally getting adjusted to being around him so I'm finding the right things to say without hyperventilating which is a major relief. So even though I don't know what's going to happen when he wakes up, I'm not nervous about it.
With the eggs on the stove, I start mixing up some pancake batter which is just pancake mix from a box that I add water to, mix it up, and then it's batter. I don't usually cook breakfast but pancakes are Lana's go-to hangover breakfast so we always have a supply of cheap pancake mix in the cupboard.
As I'm mixing up the pancake batter, I notice some movement from the corner of my eye and I look over into the living room area to see Jonah waking up, stretching his muscly arms above his head before he runs his fingers through his hair.
"Morning," I greet him from the kitchen. "I'm making breakfast so I hope you're hungry."
"Looks good," He mumbles in a sleepy voice that makes my knees go weak. I look away just in case my face starts blushing. "Where's the bathroom?"
"Down the hall, second door on the right," I inform him. The eggs finish pretty quickly so I get them off of the pan and I start the pancakes. I like my pancakes plain but I know that Lana likes chocolate chips in hers so in a few of the pancakes, I sprinkle in a few chocolate chips. I'm just starting to flip some of the first pancakes when Jonah returns from the hallway and joins me in the kitchen.
"Do you need any help?" He asks me, observing over my shoulder.
"If you want bacon, you can get that started. I think we have some in the fridge," I suggest as I focus on the pancakes to make sure that they come out just right.
"Do you have any plans today?" Jonah wonders as he pulls the package of bacon out of the fridge. The scissors are in the knife block so he grabs those and starts cutting open the plastic packaging.
