The biggest bummer of going to parties near campus is that we walk to the neighborhood where the parties are happening instead of driving. Although it eliminates the threat of drunk driving, it also means that I don't want to wear high heels. Sure, it's more convenient because there's a lot of standing at a party but when I get dressed up, I'd just prefer to wear heels.

So instead of wearing high heels, I'm wearing medium-sized heels but they're really comfortable black wedges that I know that I can walk around in for hours before I start feeling my feet hurt. And they look nice with my faux denim crop top and black skater skirt. It's a comfortable outfit but also is a really cute going-out outfit. With the weather starting to fall into decay as autumn takes over, I don't have many days left in the year where I can wear skirts like this without regretting it.

My sister is wearing black leggings and a light blue denim jacket. She looks nice but more casual than me. We're walking to the party with four of our friends and they're all looking nice too. Some shorts, skirts, leggings. Nobody really judges you for what you wear to a college party. We're all broke and getting lazier by the day so everybody just gets it. I like to dress up a little more because I just like to get dressed up sometimes and this is usually my only excuse to do so.

"Next month when I turn 21, we're really going out," One of our friends, Carmen, insists as we're walking down the sidewalk in two rows with our arms linked together. "And I'm going to get shit faced and it's going to be so special because it's going to be legal."

"Haven't you heard?" I raise my eyebrows at her. "It's no fun anymore when it's legal."

"That's bull," She snorts. "I'm not giving up the booze until I'm dead. Casually, of course, I won't be spending my week nights at AA meetings but it'll still be fun. I'll be the cool older friend who buys all of my baby friends their alcohol and I can stop bumming off of frat parties and their ever present threat of date rape."

"Oh hush, we have fun," Tess argues with a roll of her eyes. "We've made a lot of memories at drunk frat parties. They've got kegs at this one so it'll be a good party. I'm excited and also, side note, Dawson said that he's going to be here too."
