Selene POV

I drove to one of my safe houses in Budapest. I know it's far, but it's safer for my child. I looked back and saw her sleeping on David's lap.

I've known David for a while, but I also know he would protect her with every ounce of his life. How do I know that? He looks at her the way Michael looks at me.

Being a mother is still a shock to me. But it angered me more. I never got to hold her when she was born. Never got to see her first steps, hear her first words, or calm her cries.

She needed me, but I wasn't there. "I promise Eve I will make up for all the time we've lost my love," I said, keeping my eyes on the road.

Eve POV

I woke up in a room that I didn't know. I started to panic. Where were they? I don't like being alone.

In a blink, I was looking through my mother's eyes. She was in a kitchen with David talking. "I know she's your mate David. I trust you with her," my mother said sipping her coffee.

Before I could hear anything else, I was looking through my own eyes and I felt curious. What was a mate? I grabbed a brush and ran it through my long black hair.

In Antigen, they never cut my hair so it was very long. I showered and felt much cleaner and fresh. I dried my hair and changed into the outfit my mother laid out for me.

It was tight leather skinny jeans, combat boots, a black tank top and a leather jacket.

I didn't need make up since being a hybrid, I don't get flaws. Not that I'll ever admit it. I just want to be a normal 16 year old girl.

I brushed my teeth and added some dark brown lipstick. I added some body spray and I was gold.

I walked downstairs and used my senses to find them. Ever since I had blood, I've gotten stronger and so have my senses. My mother and David smiled at me and said, "Guess what."

"What?" I asked, cutting up my waffles that David gave me. David smirked, "I'm going to train you how to fight."

I dropped my fork, "Mom! He's stronger than me! Nooo way." They looked at me in shock, "You're a hybrid. Stronger than any normal vampire or lycan. You ripped a lycan in half, trust me, you're stronger than David."

I rolled my eyes but said, "Fine. Hurt me and watch what happens though."

I could've sworn I heard him mumble, "I would never hurt you." I finished my breakfast and David lead me out into the forest.

I removed my leather jacket and placed it on the floor. David then charged at me and I used my instinct to dodge it.

"Good. Now let's see how strong you are," he pinned me down to the ground floor and I growled, my eyes turning into my hybrid eyes.

I flipped him easy, straddled his waist, and pinned HIM to the floor. "Huh. That was easy," I said with a smirk of my own.

I got off and helped him up. I started to feel cold and pain. David sensed this and ran to my side, he cradled my face gently, "Eve? What is it?"

It went away and I said, "I have no idea. I just felt cold and in pain.. I think my father escaped from Antigen."

David grabbed my jacket and carried me into his arms, blurring to the house with his speed.

"Selene!"

My mother ran out and said, "Has something happened? Is Eve okay?" He nodded and informed her that Michael has just escaped Antigen.

My mother looked shocked, but happy too. "I have to go get him. I could bring him home."

David set me down on my feet, " I could take care of Eve for you while you're gone Selene. Just please be careful."

She nodded and gave me a big hug, "Be safe okay? I'm going to bring your father back."

I nodded and she got into her car, driving off. David grabbed my hand and led me inside. We sat down and got to know each other better.

He was turned at 18 by his father, who's an elder named Thomas. I told him about me and then I decided to ask a question that shocked him.

"My mom said I'm your mate? What's a mate?" I asked, I wasn't a little girl anymore I deserve to know.

He smiled and said "A mate is like your other half. You would do anything for them. Basically the love of your life, but once a mate, always a mate."

I felt shocked. He was my mate too? "I'm your mate? Does that mean you are mine?"

He nodded and said, "But since you're only 16 I won't pressure you, but Eve just know when you get older, you're mine. I can't help myself from killing anyone who touches you-"

I cut him off by kissing him. He was shocked, but then responded to the kiss. I straddled his waist and continued to kiss him.

Kissing David, was something I have never felt before. I felt wanted. I felt..loved. I could feel my eyes shift and I pulled back to look at his electric blue eyes.

I smiled and he cradled my face, "So beautiful." He flipped us over on the couch and I moaned when I felt his hardness on my thigh.

He growled and I continued to kiss his neck, smirking at his lustful growls that were for me. He sighed, "Baby we should stop. You don't want this. Its the lust and your emotions-"

"I know what I want. David, I want you," I said, my eyes changing back to show it was the heightened emotions I possess.

He smiled and lifted me up by my waist, wrapping my legs around him, and carried me upstairs to my bedroom.
