Beetail yawned waking up to a Moonhigh sky. She saw her journey patrol wide awake. Rabbit was awake as well.
Rabbit sat outside the barn staring at the moutains.
"Ready to go everyone?" Beetail meowed.
They all nodded their heads. Rabbit looked at her paws.
She flicked her tail sadness gleaming in her eyes.
"Rabbit?" Beetail looked in her direction.
Rabbit jumped. "Oh! Y-yes?" She looked over at her briefly befor looking away.
"Do you want to journey along?" She asked.
"M-me?! You want me to join y-you?! To the mountains?!" Rabbit asked astonished.
Cedarpaw's blind eyes stared at her. "You're filled with longing and sadness." He meowed.
The young she-cat looked down at her paws. "I...yes...yes I am.." She mewed. The AshClan apprentice touched his muzzle to her ear. He could feel her sadness.
Rabbit looked at him. The AshClan apprentice's blind eyes looked at her. Rabbit stared back. "My full name is Rabbit That Runs Over Hill..." She mewed.
Ceadarpaw purred. "I like your name.." He meowed.
Rabbit blinked. "Thanks..." She purred. "My mother is a mountain cat. I hope she's alright. It's been so long.." Her eyes looked to the peeks beyond.
"You said you knew your way?" Olivepaw asked.
"Um, didn't Bramble give you directions?" Heronfeather looked to Beetail.
"Oh yes! Yes I do! I even know a quicker way to the moutians than the way you were going!" Rabbit mewed. Beetail's ears pricked. "Really?!"
"Yes!" Rabbit smiled. "Follow me!" She ran forward. They followed after her. She stopped at the stream and sniffed it.
Cedarpaw stood beside her.
"Yup! This is it!" Rabbit smiled at them. "This river comes from the mountain!"
Blossomclaw's mouth gaped open in shock.
"The lake that divides the AshClan and the conjoined clan territory?" Heronfeather asked.
"Yes!" Rabbit smiled. "We follow this stream we get to the mountains!" Her muzzle pointed forward in the direction of the mountains.
"That's brilliant!" Beetail beamed. Rabbit shuffled her paws embarrassed. "Well what are we waiting for?" Rookpaw asked eagerly. Shoving past Rabbit and her brother until they were nose to nose.
The she-cat stared at Cedarpaw. Cedarpaw's blind eyes blinked as he sniffed her near him.
Rabbit was slightly smaller than him and backed up quickly. "U-um let's start moving shall we?" She started walking away quickly embarrassed. Cedarpaw bounded next to her. The patrol followed after them.
Cedarpaw sniffed. "Uh, is it supposed to smell like rocks and dust?" He asked. "Are we there yet?" Olivepaw asked her eyes gleamig with hope.
"Hm? Oh yes yes it is! We're almost to the base!" Rabbit smiled.
Beetail's pelt pricked with excitement. Rabbit kept walking less of a spring in her step.
Blossomclaw sniffed the air. "I smell a cat!" Her voice held astonishment. Rabbit stopped. "What?!" She whipped her head to the older she-cat.
"It's a way away, but I can smell it like Copperwhisker can smell a squirrel." The scarred orange she-cat meowed. "W-what do they smell like?!" Rabbit asked eagerly.
"They smell like they live here!" Blossomclaw stared forward.
"Mom..." Rabbit said quietly. She turned and started bounding off towards the mountains.
