Chapter 19

Foxstar slinked in the shadows. He curled his lip and saw a wolf. This was unusual. Was this one a loner? The cats followimg Foxstar bristled and arched their backs. A TimberClan cat's dark grey and brown pelt puffed up as they laid eyes on the wolf. He swung his tail to the wolf and gave the battle cry. Cats blasted past and attacked the creature. Beetail's snarled and clawed at the wolf's face.
One of the TimberClan cats leapt towards the wolf's flank snarling. A cream TimberClan she-cat clawed it's leg.
Cedarpaw fell in behind Aspenspark leaping up to go for it's tail. The wolf howled trying to shake them off. "No use howling now beast!" Sneered a black and gray tom.
"You should have left when you had the chance!" Snarled a brown pelted TimberClan cat.
Leopardheart, their deputy leapt down from a tree to rake her claws to kill the creature. "Bet this will make you flee far." She snarled.
Another wolf bounded in. But it was a she-wolf! They needed to get to her;less broad headed and more smaller framed.
Foxstar growled at the approaching wolf and snarled. Chara did the same. Smokeclaw, Spottedheart, Brackentail, and Lithefoot all got in battle stances. The she-wolf snarled with a leap. With offbeat yowls, the AshClan and TimberClan cats clamored onto the wolf and clawed at it. Fur was flying everywhere. A small splatter of blood landed on the ground. Bravestar leaped up onto the thing's back;biting at it's neck.
Suddenly, they heard it whimper and then fell out limp, it's legs trembling as it fell and the warrior backed away. The bigger wolf ran away.
"Your plan worked Bravestar!" Leopardheart purred.
"And that was just a test. Now it's a certainty." The thick furred tom meowed.
"You've all been very brave and strong." Foxstar meowed.
"We're warriors to our leader. We'd follow you." Char purred.
"There's no doubt in my mind that I'd follow you." Leopardheart purred to Bravestar.
"Wait until WolfClan and ViperClan hear about this at the next gathering!" Rookpaw declared, her eyes glittering.
"We do not gloat. All five of our Clans come together on this matter." Echobreeze meowed to the apprentice. "Are any of you wounded?" Bravestar meowed to his cats.
"One of the mange-pelts bit at a part of my fur, I have a scratch." Echostream showed a scratched along her flank. "How are you Poolhawk?" Bravestar asked a cream she-cat sitting by Pikestalk.
"My fur was deep enough to save me, but I have a split ear because the beast kept biting at it. He nearly ripped it off." The she-cat replied, her ear now floppy.
The TimberClan leader nodded. Foxstar looked on. "A new member I see?" He asked.
"Yes. I need more cats to maintain a Clan." Bravestar replied.
"A Clan isn't made in a day. You need strong and agile cats yes, but it takes time." Foxstar meowed calmly.
"I know Foxstar. But at the moment we do need all the paws we can get." Bravestar replied.
"Of course." He meowed.
Bravestar nodded his head.
Leopardheart looked to the sky. "StarClan has helped us during this test." She meowed with relief. Bravestar nodded and licked her cheek. She gave a faint purr.
"Come my Clan, we return to camp." Foxstar meowed with a flick of his tail. Bravestar stood up flicking his ears for his Clan to follow him.
