"Onestar." Feralstorm padded into the leader's den.
The white and ginger tom looked at his deputy. "Feralstorm? You came back?" He asked him.
The tan tabby nodded. "Yes. I just wanted to tell you that I came back with from ScarClan. Crimsonstar is dead." He mewed.
The tom frowned. "May StarClan light his path." He meowed.
"May StarClan light ScarClan's path." Feralstorm meowed.
"She stayed in ScarClan even after Crimsonstar's death?" The amber eyed leader asked.
"Why would she leave? ScarClan is her home. She has her mate Brightstripe and their kit Goldenheart, and Thornfurl and Skyfoot. Howlingdawn stayed behind and Leafpelt comforted her." Feralstorm explained.
Slatetooth was ScarClan's new leader. Who would be his deputy? The deputy of the Clan did their leader's will without question. The warrior code said the leader's word was to be law.
What would ScarClan be like now that Slatetooth was to be its leader? Larchwing ran in. "Onestar! We came from a visit from TimberClan! Bluejay had her kits!" She panted.
"That's fantastic!" The WolfClan leader purred.
"Has she named them?" Feralstorm asked the reddish brown she-cat.
"She looked too exhausted to even dwell on it, but the kits are strong and healthy as any WolfClan cat." She purred in reply.
"Falletooth opted to stay with her and them to ensure her safety." She went on.
"StarClan bless your mother." Onestar purred.
She nodded and padded out of the den to share tongues with Whitemane. "Feralstorm I want you to take a wolf patrol at Moonhigh." He told his deputy.
"Yes Onestar. Has the ViperClam hunting patrol come back?" The tan tabby asked. The tom nodded his head. Hushed murmurs filled the camp. "Where's all of the prey?"
"The wolves have done it again!"
"Hey, at least it isn't leaf-bare like it was those moons."
"We nearly died!"
Onestar shook his pelt. His cats and Whitestar's were concerned. The wolves had fatally injured Ottertail during a night patrol. Liontail was in the lead of chasing it off in vengeance for her hurt mate. Their son Lizardstep was filled with fury. Duststripe curled her lip. Both of their kits vowed to avenge their father. Of ViperClan, Windflower had become wounded. Her kit only Ryenose, was checking on her constantly.
Whitestar stood beside her companion. "They're getting restless because of the wolves in the forest." She meowed. The dark green eyed she-cat was right. All of the cats were starting to look worried.
"In a time like this, our warriors are counting on us and each other." Dawnreed meowed as she stood by her leader. A bird chirped high overhead in the camp as it flew by.
"We must be thankful for the prey as if we're in leaf-bare." Feralstorm meowed.
"And cautious about it. I saw Thistleear's muzzle buried in his fresh-kill this morning." Dawnreed meowed. "Joining forces had kept us alive for so long, we're not letting go of it now." Whitestar vowed.
"But like seasons, times change." Her deputy mewed.
"But a warrior's heart never does." The white she-cat meowed quietly.
"Gorseclaw? Sootwhisker?" Feralstorm pointed out.
"That was then. This is now. But I remember Tallclaw watching him each day after the night of his betrayal if he ever struck again. Perhaps he realized the error of his dumb decisions." She told the tan tabby tom.
"Stormclaw had a part." Onestar went on.
"Yes." Dawnreed agreed.
"But he didn't attempt to kill a cat!" Meowed a voice. It was Rowanfang. "My father saved my mother!" His eyes burned with fury.
"We were not saying that he treaded down the wrong way." Omestar soothed.
The black tabby forced his fur to lie flat. He then padded away to his mother.
