The light of dawn was high above the trees. Beetail gathered her Clanmates around her. They were ready to make the journey to the tribe. "We've got a long journey ahead of us." She meowed.
"Which is why you should leave now." Foxstar meowed.
Heronfeather touched his muzzle to Beetail's ear.
Swiftslip licked Rookpaw's ear. "Oh, I just hope you all will be alright.." She meowed, her voice filled with worry. We'll be fine mom! Cedarpaw ruffled his pelt.
"Relax Swiftslip.. They're apprentices, they'll be okay." Dewfoot soothed as she rest her tail on the she-cat's shoulder.
"Hollyheart will be watching over you." Echobreeze meowed as he licked Fernstripe's ears. The mention of her mother made her purr and look down at her paws at the same time. Blackpelt was standing beside Mosspuddle as Beetail padded up to him. "I'll take care of things here. Don't worry." He meowed.
She knew that along with his tracking, he had a good head on his shoulders. "Are you sure you cam handle my job?" She joked purring.
"I'll do my best efforts." The black tom vowed.
"You remember the directions I gave you?" Bramble asked the brown tabby she-cat.
"Like I know to steer clear of raccoons. I know I'll remember those traveling herbs." Beetail replied giving a nod and wrinkling her nose.
"Excellent. May StarClan light your path." The yellow eyed she-cat meowed.
The journeying cats left the camp, hearing the goodbyes of their Clanmates.
"Be safe!"
"Keep together!"
"Be sure claw whatever enemy you see for me!"
With that, their journey would start. Beetail kept at the head. "We need to go through the farm. Bramble said once we do, keep forward to Twolegplace." She told the cats.
"Right." Songcloud meowed.
"Seems easier said than done.." Fernstripe rumbled.
Beetail sniffed the air. "No threats. Come on." She meowed and went down a dirt path that led to the farm. Cedarpaw angled his ears.
Rookpaw saw fuzzy little birds giving high pitch chirping noises. "What are those?" She asked.
"Those are chicks." Meowed a voice. "Are they edible?" Cedarpaw asked looking towards the small birds. "Who said that?" Blossomclaw growled demanding an answer.
"I'm right here." Cedarpaw looked at her as if he wasn't blind at all. A white she-cat padded up to them. "I don't think the hen would like you pawing at her younglings. Believe me I know." She meowed.
"Greetings. We are on a journey long ways away from here. Do you know a way to the mountains?" Beetail asked the she-cat.
"Maybe. What is it to you?" She asked. "We're on a mission." Blossomclaw replied.
"Hmm." Her gaze swept over the group and landed on the three apprentices. "And you're taking kits?"
"We're seven moons old! We clawed away enemy cats!" Rookpaw declared, swiping at the air.
"I apologize." She mewed. She looked back at Beetail. "I'm Rabbit."
"Nice to meet you Rabbit." Fernstripe purred.
"Would you like to come along with us?" Olivepaw asked, her eyes gleaming.
"We just met this cat." Blossomclaw meowed.
"Hmm. I mean I just live in that abandoned barn. The twolegs don't know I exist. Oh! Are you hungry?" She mewed.
"We all had traveling herbs." Beetail replied.
"I'm hungry!" Rookpaw blurted out.
"I thought you ate your herbs." Fernstripe meowed.
The dark grayish apprentice looked down.
Cedarpaw sniffed her. "You didn't." He meowed.
"Come on then." Rabbit led them to the barn.
Blossomclaw sniffed. "There's mice in here.."
"Always!" The she-cat meowed, nodding her head.
Rookpaw saw one and pelted after it. A squeak was cut short.
Blossomclaw blinked. "Hm. Not bad Rookpaw." She commented.
Beetail looked at Rabbit. "So? You live here?" She asked.
"Yes." She purred.
"This is just holding up time." Blossomclaw meowed impatiently.
"Oh. I apologize if I was taking up time." Rabbit mewed.
"No it's my fault.." Rookpaw mewed through a mouthful of her fresh kill. Cedarpaw's blind eyes looked off into the distance. "I can feel it..." His mew was as soft as a kit's.
"Feel what?" Beetail asked her apprentice.
"Feel them... They're calling for us.." The black and white apprentice mewed. Olivepaw appeared at his side. "Who?" She asked her brother, her green eyes wide with curiosity.
"The cats of the mountains... They need us there." He mewed in reply.
"How soon?" Came Rookpaw's question.
"When we get there.. They're tell us what they need." Cedarpaw mewed. "You should all get some rest." Rabbit mewed.
"But it's only dawn." Songcloud meowed.
"Well we could rest for a moment or two..." Beetail meowed.
"We'll go with whatever you think is right Beetail." Fernstripe meowed. Heronfeather purred touching his tail to her shoulder.
"We set some shelter here and then we make our way..." Beetail meowed.
