The car ride to come would probably be awkward, like me. Always. I opened the door for him and grabbed the bouquet, hiding my blushing face behind it and shaking slightly. The loose few petals fell, about three white petals quietly brushing the ground."H-Here, I work at a florists so I thought I'd bring you some flowers." I could see him move out of the corners of my eyes as he touched some of the flowers delicately before taking them from my hand and smiling with a light blush on his cheeks.
"Thanks! I'm sorry I didn't bring anything for you. So, how about I take you out to dinner? My treat! We can call it.. well... a date?"
I blushed darker, now pulling my shirt up over my face, "Sure, that sounds nice"
I felt him wrap his arms around me, the flowers brushing my hair and his breath against my ear. I felt both of the necklaces heat up against our chests as I closed my eyes and took a breath in, moving out of his grasp slowly.
"We need to start driving if we want to beat the traffic"
We stepped into the car, buckling the seat belts and began to exit the parking lot. I moved to turn on some music but realized, well, that would be rude! I should let the guest choose. I wonder what music he likes? I should probably ask, break the silence. But then I'll say something wrong! But this silence is awful. I took a shaky breath out and focused on the feeling of warmth emitting from the small pendant around my neck.
I almost broke the silence, but it seems right at that moment his phone rang. I looked over, automatically recognizing the number.
"Who-?"
"Alfred, put that frog on speaker phone. Right now."
Alfred hesitantly pressed answer and clicked speaker, still looking confused. I gritted my teeth as a french accent filled the empty space of the car.
"Bonjour! You safely arrived in London, non? I'm just calling to-"
Before he could finish I cut him off, " Listen here Francis, you are waaaayy to creepy. How did you get Alfred's phone number? And why are you calling him?"
Alfred looked even more confused, but stayed quiet still wondering who Francis was and hoping he could get some insight, Francis talking yet again, " Arthur, it was easy! You told me his name and what website you originally chatted on, so I searched him up. I made a fake account and got his number-"
Finally Alfred gave his opinion, "WHAT! Isn't that illegal or something! Dude, stalker alert!"
Francis waited for him to finish before continuing, "- so I could make sure you were safe. He could've been a maniac! You could've been murdered! Mon ami, you really are lonely to not think about these sort of things."
Alfred pouted, "I'm trustworthy. Besides, Arthur and I are-"
I put my hand over his mouth, keeping the other on the steering wheel, "Friends. Now, I'll come visit you in your sad little bar and tell you about things. Now, forget this number and leave us alone for the time being."
I took my hand off Alfred's mouth and pressed the 'end call' button before placing my hand back on the wheel, making the last turn to my apartment. I finished painting, I just have to move a few more pieces of decor back in, which Alfred will have to deal with. I parked the car and looked over to a still confused Alfred.
With a sigh, I explained, "Francis is a friend of mine who works at a nearby bar and is kind of a stalker, but uses it for good. He is helpful, but all to optimistic and I would rather tell him in person about the.. soulmate thing. He is a bit of a helpless romantic, so I didn't want him to squeal like a fan girl at a One Direction concert. Sorry about all that..."
Alfred began to nod slowly, smiling brightly a few seconds later, "Oh my God, dude, I get to see your apartment! Oh, I can picture it now with like stereotypical tea and Dr. Who stuff and all classy!"
"Well, I'll let you know that I do have some Dr. Who things and tea, but classy? My room currently looks like it belongs to a child, I just got finished painting it like a forest!"
Alfred then began to get out of the car, smiling wider, "Well then, let's go up and see"
