We began to walk to the elevator, a feeling of dread suddenly settling itself into my head. What if he doesn't like it? He is my... soulmate... God it still feels weird to say that. Despite my thoughts I smiling back at him as he excitedly hopped up and down a bit, waiting for the elevator. Although he was considerable taller than me, he acted more childish.
The elevator dinged when it reached us, my nerves doubling while watching its familiar doors slide open and reveal the light blue interior. Quiet, and yet cliché elevator music spilled into the hallway. I noticed I was dazing off yet again as I felt Alfred tug on my sleeve, walking into the elevator. I took in a breath and pressed the number indicating my level, the door sliding shut smoothly. I could hear Alfred's breath, I myself was holding mine in. Why do I always have to be so awkward?
The elevator made its was slowly to my floor, once the door finally opened I hissed out a long overdue breath. Alfred seemed to glance over at me, as if to check if I was okay, but instead walked out, pulling me with him.
"Okay, so which room is yours?"
Instead of answering I just walked towards a door, five away from the nearest. I took another gulp of air in as I unlocked it, only to reveal my normal apartment with a plant knocked down. Wait, plant knocked down?
"Well, welcome to my home Alfred. Uh, I'll be with you in a second. Remind me if I asked, you aren't allergic to cats, right?"
Alfred stood dumbfounded for a second while I started putting the small cacti carefully back into the spilled pot, almost answering before he felt something furry against his leg, "O-Oh! Yeah, I'm not allergic!" , he picked up Hero with ease and continued, " Although I am more of a dog person."
Now, this was funny.
I burst out laughing, looking at how much the cat and him looked alike. The small glasses outline matched Alfred's own, and just everything about the cat seemed so him. It was uncanny! Alfred looked confused and continued to hold the cat, Gentleman slowly coming into view and walking up to me. Now this got Alfred laughing with me. Thank god Hero knocked the door closed when rubbing against Alfred's legs, if he didn't all my neighbors would want me dead for all thing noise!
"A-Alfred", I said, my laughter slowly becoming small, manly, giggles, "Hero and you look so alike! It's quite the coincidence!"
"Psh, like your the one to talk! You and that cat have the exact same eyebrows!", Alfred exclaimed, exaggeratedly pointing towards my eyebrows and the lines in the fur resembling eyebrows.
At this I just started waggling my eyebrows at him, making him laugh harder, "Oh my God, Arthur, when are those caterpillars going to become butterflies! Man, have you ever gotten them done?"
"Excuse you, I personally like my eyebrows and wouldn't change them! They keep people away and I'm not very fond of people!"
"You're fond of me though, right?"
"Oh shut up and let me show you around the apartment."
