I walked next to him, pointing out occasional shoppes and monuments. It all seemed rather cheesy, kind of like Antonio's jokes. The last hours of day went by quickly while we talked about random things, learning more about one another. As we walked along the streets the sun began to set, the reddish glow illuminating Alfred's bright blue eyes. I gave a small smile as I watched Alfred look up in awe at all the lights beginning to turn on. I pulled him a bit further until we reached the London Bridge. I couldn't help but watch at all of Alfred's reactions, his childlike grin, gleaming eyes, his golden hair. Each feature was illuminated by the sunsets glow, looking like some sort of fairy tale setting.
I pulled him to the gate along the edge to overlook the water, people talking and passing by us. Their voices became nearly unheard when Alfred placed his hand on mine, resting on the cool metal. I glanced down at our hands before looking up at him. His gaze was focused on the horizon.
"So, did you enjoy today?",I fidgeted a bit, hoping he did. His presence was enough to make me happy for a lifetime, although I will spare myself the embarrassment of saying that aloud. He'd probably laugh at me.
"Today was great! It's so beautiful here, and you were a great guide! I can't wait to do more stuff like this with you!",He smiled brightly, seeming so sure of the future to come. I studied how his eyes would crinkle slightly with such a large grin, how he rocked back and forth on his heels a bit, how his glasses tended to move with his smile. He was perfect. I looked back out to the water, hoping he didn't catch my staring.
I scooted closer, just a bit, so our shoulders just barely brushed each other,"I really enjoyed it as well, I hope we can do this again sometime."
I turned to him to see that he was now looking directly at me, his large grin turned more into a soft smile, his eyes meeting mine. I turned my gaze back to our hands, his still over mine. He slowly picked up my hand and laced our fingers and used his other hand to turn my gaze back to him. He acted as if he was treating something fragile, almost hesitant as if I might break. He has a light, almost unnoticeable blush o his cheeks. The sun had finally seemed to set, leaving us in the glow of light bulbs and cars lights. He leaded forward and kissed my forehead lightly, then pulled my hand against his lips. I blushed and looked up at him, smiling and laughing lightly.
He soon started laughing quite a bit too. I wanted to freeze this moment, the both of us just laughing awkwardly on this bridge at seemingly nothing. I leaned to him on my toes just a bit an kissed his cheek, the warmth of his skin radiating onto me.
Both mine and Alfred's blush seemed to darken, but I cast the butterflies away for just a moment, "It's getting late, we should be heading back"
"Alright", Alfred said quietly, still smiling. Then we started walking back, both of our hands still laced together.
