"Scottie!" I greeted excitedly, jumping into his arms and hugging him tightly.
He hugged back and kissed the side of my head, lifting me off the ground by a few inches.
"How are you? How was the drive? I heard there was a car crash and it caused a lot of traffic."Scotts face seemed to drop slightly, but his smile quickly returned to his face.
"It was fine, the crash was pretty bad though. Anyway, how is my beautiful, beautiful angel doing today?" He asked, I chuckled as he set me down, although I only leaned back, my hands still locked around the back of his neck."I'm a lot happier now that you're here. Can't believe it's been two freaking weeks, don't know how I survived without you."
Scott tensed slightly before kissing my head again.
"I love you so, so, so much." He exclaimed, hugging me again.
I giggled and squeezed him tighter."Never forget that, okay?"
My eyebrows furrowed slightly as I pulled back and made eyecontact with his nervous, pale blue eyes."Scott? Is everything okay, what's going on?" I asked worriedly, resting my hand on the left side of his face. He reached his hand up and out his over mine, ensuring that my hand wouldn't move away.
"Everything is going to be okay...I promise. You'll always have me, okay?" He asked, a flash of panic going through his eyes. I felt my heart beat increase slightly as I wondered what was wrong or what had happened.
"Scottie?" I asked.
"Mitch, you have to promise me that no matter what, you'll take care of yourself, alright?"
I moved back slightly."Scott...a-are you breaking up with me?" I asked quietly, searching his eyes for some kind of indication as to why he was shaking slightly.
He laughed breathily and glanced down at our feet before looking back up at me again.
"No, no...I'd never do that. I'll always be in love with you, Mitch. I'm always here for you, okay? Always. Tell me you know that.""Scott--"
"Mitch, please...just tell me that you know that I'll always be here for you." I shook my head slightly, feeing my eyes water for an unknown reason.
I was so confused and worried, what could possibly be happening?
"I know you're always going to be between for me...I know you'll always be in love with me, and I you."
He smiled weakly before closing the space between us and connected our lips.I kissed him back eagerly, what was he going to say next?
I wrapped my arms around him again, pulling him as close as I possibly could.
"I love you, Mitch."I kissed his cheek again, kissed his lips, and then pulled back and rested my forehead against his.
"Baby...what's going on? P-please tell me, I-I'm really scared."
Just then, my phone rang.
I looked away from Scott who had tears rolling down his cheeks. I ignored the flashing phone and just waited for him to answer."Answer your phone, Mitchy."
I sniffed before reaching over and grabbing my phone from the counter.I noticed it was Connie Hoying, his mother.
I answered the phone and she was hysterical."Connie? What's wrong?" I asked frantically, showing the phone screen to Scott. He just shook his head slightly and hugged me again.
The phone was still pressed to my right ear as my left ear was pressed against Scott's chest, the slow and comforting rhythm of his beating heart somewhat calming me."M-Mitch, oh gosh, Mitch, something terrible has happened. Scott...Scott got in a car crash."
I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked back up at Scott, who had the same look on his face."What? What are you talking about, Scott is at my house." I said, putting her on speaker phone. There was a slight pause before her sobs filled the silence.
Scott looked down at the phone confusedly before looking down at me.
"Mitch, h-he's dead! I was with him, h-he barely made it to the hospital. He's dead Mitch, oh my gosh!" Connie grew even more hysterical as her sobs louder and giant gasps from breath increased.I stepped back from Scott with my head tilted slightly.
"Scott? I-is this some kind of joke? Why is she saying you're dead? You're right here, I mean...you're right--"
I moved my hand forward to touch his cheek as I did seconds ago, but my hand went straight through.I gasped quietly and snatched my hand back.
My eyes were filled with tears as I made eyecontact with Scott again.
His smile with small, but still there. And my eyes widened and tears overflowed as he whispered, "I love you, Mitch."
And then he disappeared.
