I kiss to my shoulder, a whispered phrase in my ear, and a hug from behind.

"Y'know, I could just call in sick and stay here all day with you."
He mumbled as he rested his chin on my shoulder. I giggled and shook my head. He said that every morning, although I never allowed it. He loved working at the elementary school, I would never take him away from that just because I was lonely.

"You're silly." I said softly.

A kiss to my cheek.

"One day you'll want me to stay, I know it." He said jokingly as he pulled away from me, leaving me cold and wanting his touch again. I turned to face him although I could see him in the mirror.
"I want you to stay, but I'm not selfie enough to leave those kids with a sub. They love you. Not as much as I do though." I replied. He sighed and continued swiping his fingers through his golden locks to perfect the style he wanted.

"I don't like you being here by yourself. It worries me. Can you invite Kirstie here or something?" He asked eagerly, looking back down at me. I smiled shyly, a warm feeling flying through me at his worries.
"I-I'll be alright. She's teaching her yoga class today. Don't worry, blue eyes." I said quietly as I turned back toward the mirror.

Scott was dressed in a blue button up with the two top buttons unbuttoned. He wore black fitted jeans with the rims rolled up and brown dress shoes. I was wearing black yoga pants and a pink long sleeved shirt. I considered getting dressed from my sleepwear, but decided I'd lounge for a few more hours.

"I should head out. Promise you'll meet me at the school for lunch?" He asked as he tuned toward me and locked his blue orbs with mine. I smiled and nodded, opening the bathroom door for him.

A kiss to my forehead and a peck on my lips, Scott left our house.
The door slam was the last noise I heard apart from my sighing to fill the quiet.

The tumble of my dishwasher became normal eventually, and I wished to hear. I turned my television on and switched to a random murder mystery as I got on my phone.

I scrolled through life hacks, makeup tutorials, uncommon facts that weren't actually uncommon or facts, and random selfies that I didn't think twice about. Time went by at its normal speed and I wished it went quicker so I could be with Scott again.

I considered calling my dads, but I knew they'd keep talking and talking by the time I had to meet Scott for lunch. I usually don't mind catching up when I'm on long car rides or lazy Saturday's, but I had to leave in fifteen minutes and that's never enough time to talk to Avi and Kevin.

Besides, I'm sure they were busy on a Tuesday anyway. Maybe doing something with my young sister, Felba.
I ghosted over the thought of calling my friend Jermone, but remembered he had a bad cold.

Trying to figure out a way to pass the time, the next time I glanced at the clock it was about time to leave. I smiled stayed happily on my face as I got dressed and grabbed my phone, keys, and wallet. I sent a quick text to Scott, saying I was on my way.

He never replied.

Arriving at the school was a blur.

Police cars swarmed the parking lots, a fire trucks siren blared in my ear. A large group of yelling people and crying people were bunched up in a closed off section.

I immediately got out of my car and locked it, wondering what happened. My heart was beating quickly as I jogged over to the people.

They closed off a large spot that people were allowed to go past, and I walked up to it.
"Sir, sir, you can't go by. We're slightly everything we can to get the kids out." An officer told me. I stammered, confused and frightened as I attempted to ask her what was happening.
