Chapter 12: Battle Between Friends

Umbreon and I just left Shalour City when someone called out to us. I turned on my heels to see a guy with orange hair. 

"Um do I know you?" I asked confused. 

"Trevor did you find her?" I heard a familiar voice and saw Ash rush out of the trees. 

"Ash?"

"Hey Kat, I heard you won the Rumble Badge from Korrina." 

"That's right." 

"Then why don't you have a battle with Trevor." I looked at the orange haired boy. I smiled gently. 

"Sure." I took out a pokeball. "Charmander let's go!" 

"Charmeleon let's go!" Trevor threw out another pokeball. I was a little surprised, but immediately regained my composure. 

"Charmander use Dragon Claw!"

"Charmeleon counter with your Dragon Claw!" The two Pokemon collided but Charmeleon was just a little stronger. Charmander was blown back. 

"Charmander are you alright?" I asked gently. He jumped back up and nodded. "Good, let's use Flamethrower!" 

"Use Dragon Claw!" Charmeleon broke through the Flamethrower and slashed Charmander back into my arms. 

Charmander...

he jumped out of my arms even though I knew he was in a lot of pain, he was trying to show that he could beat anyone he challenged. His pride was on the line. 

"Use Dragon Claw one more time!" Charmander took off quickly towards Charmeleon. 

"Dragon Claw!"

"I know you can do it, Charmander. You can do whatever you set your mind and heart to. Do it Charmander!" I called out sharply. As the two Pokemon collided again this time Charmander was able to push Charmeleon back.

"What?" Trevor said surprised. That's when Charmander started glowing.

"Charmander, you're evolving." When the light stopped a Charmeleon stood before me. "I'm so proud of you, Charmeleon. Use Dragon Claw!" Charmeleon rushed back towards Trevor's. 

'Charmeleon use Dragon Claw back!" The two Charmeleon met in the middle and blasted each other back. 

"Kat, let's finish this." Trevor said smiling. 

"I couldn't agree more. Charmeleon use Dragon Pulse!"

"Charmeleon use Flamethrower!" The rainbow beam of light collided with the flames. A huge explosion appeared and then the flamethrower broke through crashing into Charmeleon. 

'Charmeleon!" I caught him as he was blown back. As the smoke cleared Trevor's Charmeleon was also on the ground. 

"Both Pokemon are unable to battle." Trevor said and I smiled down at Charmeleon. 

"You did amazing. I'm so proud of you. Please get a long rest." I returned him. Trevor did the same with his and we met halfway to shake hands. 

"That's the first time someone has been able to make me worry other than when I was battling for Champion."

"Champion?!"

"Yeah, I'm the Champion of Kanto, didn't Ash tell you?" He shook his head no.

"It must have slipped my mind..." Ash laughed nervously. 

"Yeah slipped your mind, why don't you have a battle with me?"

"Alright!" Him and Pikachu jumped into the spot Trevor had been in. 

"How about a two-on-two?" 

"Fine by me. Fletchling and Froakie you're up." 

"Alright then. Frogadier and Sylveon let's do this!" 

"Froakie use Bubble, Fletchling use Flame Charge!" Ash commanded. 

"Frogadier counter with your Bubble and Sylveon use Fairy Wind!" The bubbles collided creating a beautiful sparkle of blue shimmering down everywhere. Then the Fairy Wind blew Fletchling back as the flames swirled around in the beautiful pink winds. "You're going to have to do better than that if you want to beat me, Ash." I said. 

"Froakie use Cut! Fletchling use Razor Wind!" 

"Sylveon use Moonblast and Frogadier use Water Pulse!" The two attacks combined and they glowed a beautiful purple. It quickly blew Froakie and Fletchling back into Ash.

'Froakie and Fletchling are unable to battle, the winner of the match is Kat." Trevor called out. 

"Well that stinks." Ash said as he returned Froakie and Fletchling. 

"Ash, you really do surprise me the more you continue to travel. I have a good feeling about you in the Kalos League. I can't wait until we battle there. I know you will give me a good fight. Keep training and you will be able to beat anyone, maybe even me." I turned to Serena and the others. "Take good care of him and yourselves. You all have a good thing going together. Serena, here." I tossed a Pokeball towards her.

"What is it?" She opened it up revealing an Eevee.

"I thought Eevee might help you along your journey. Umbreon helped me so much when we first met and has become my most trusted partner. Maybe you and Eevee could understand that bond together." I turned and waved back as I walked away with Umbreon, Sylveon and Froakie.
