Chapter 18: Becoming One with Charizard

The next day I saw I was facing Alain. So this meant I would finally have to face him in a Pokémon battle.

"Are you ready to battle, Kat?" Ash asked.

"I guess." I walked out onto the battlefield and saw Alain standing there looking pleased he would be battling me.

"Weavile let's go!"

"Lucario let's do this!"

"Weavile use Ice Beam!"

"Lucario dodge and use Power-up Punch!" Lucario took off dodging the attack quickly before blasting Weavile into the wall. "Great job, Lucario." I said lightly and felt like I could feel Diantha's gaze boring into my back.

"Bisharp!"

"Lucario use Aura Sphere!" I called out and before Alain could do a thing Bisharp was blown behind him as well.

"How are you so strong?" Alain asked seeing that I still had my calm composure.

"I trained everyday with my Pokémon. I wanted to become the best in Kalos, but now I realize all I ever wanted was to understand my Pokémon. I failed in that aspect when I forced Charizard to mega evolve yesterday..."

"Fool Charizard let's go!" I returned Lucario.

"Charizard let's do this!" Charizard appeared and Alain mega evolved his.

"Charizard Flamethrower!" He called out and blasted blue flames towards mine.

"Counter with your Flamethrower!" They collided in the middle but Alain's Charizard had blasted through out Flamethrower. 'Charizard!" I called out worried, but the Flamethrower had come out of the smoke not aimed at Charizard but me. I stared at the flames as they grew closer and closer to me. I was about to scream when I realized Charizard had appeared in front of me blocking the attack with it's own body. "Charizard..." He turned his head back at me. His eyes showed me everything I need to see. He was ready and so was I.

I nodded once as he took off towards Alain's Charizard.

"Dragon Claw!" Alain called out but I simply nodded at Charizard and he dodged out of the way.

"Dragon Claw!" I called out and Charizard slammed Mega Charizard into the ground.

"What?!"

"Fire Blast!" The flames poured over Mega Charizard.

"Charizard use Overheat!" Alain called out. I nodded to Charizard and he flew quickly into the air. The Overheat came directly at me, but I put my hand up using Protect.

"Use Brave Bird!" Charizard appeared behind Mega Charizard and blasted it into the wall behind me.

"Charizard!" Alain called out shocked.

"You were amazing Charizard." I said smiling, but I heard rocks moving and turned my attention to Mega Charizard getting up.

"We're not out of this fight yet." I nodded.

"Charizard it's time." He nodded to me in understand. "Listen to my heart and go beyond evolution. My friend Mega Evolve! Let our hearts become one." I said as my keystone glowed.

Charizard switched forms and I knew this time were bonded together.

"Use Dragon Claw!" I called out and the speed my Charizard had surpassed Alain's, Mega Charizard was blasted back once again into the wall behind Alain.

"Charizard..." he turned and I saw Charizard was back in it's original form. We did it, we beat Alain's Mega Charizard. My Charizard changed back to normal and I rushed up to him, hugging him tightly.

"Thank you so much Charizard, you were amazing. We owe it all to you." He nuzzled my face with his head. I laughed happily.

"Tyranitar, use Dark Pulse!"Alain called out and I was shocked, because the next battle hadn't been decided yet. The battlefield was supposes to change after three pokemon from one side were defeated. I jumped in front of Charizard and changed into a Lucario. I made a Bone Rush appear in my hands. I cut the Dark Pulse in half quickly.

"This battle hasn't even started yet and you have decided to take it upon yourself to fight when Charizard's back is turned. You're nothing more than a coward, Alain!" I growled changing back to normal. I looked at the ref. "I would like to fight myself, if that would be allowed. I will stay as one Pokemon." He looked at Diantha who must have nodded, because he nodded as well. "Return Charizard, you were amazing get a nice long rest." I said and then looked at Tyranitar. I changed into an Absol quickly.

'So Absol is coming out to play now." I growled at him.

"Be careful Kat!" Umbreon called out from the sideline. I nodded back at her once.

I took off quickly towards Tyranitar.

"Use Stone Edge!" I jumped on to the rocks on the battlefield, dodging the attack swiftly. I used Razor Wind knocking Tyranitar back into the water in the middle of the battlefield. Then I used Thunderbolt on the water. "Use Sandstorm!" A giant sand storm appeared around the battlefield. I closed my eyes and listened to my other senses.

The right!

I blasted a Water Pulse to my right and the sandstorm stopped. Tyranitar was on the ground unable to continue. I jumped back to the sideline, changing back to normal.

"Unfezant!" Alain called out.

"Alright then if it's a flying battle you want it's a flying battle you'll get Latias let's show everyone what the meaning of Sky Guardian is!" She appeared happily from her pokeball.

"Use Steel Wing!" Unfezant came towards Latias quickly.

"Checkmate, use Luster Purge!" I said snapping my fingers. The bright light appeared followed by Unfezant falling to the ground unable to continue.

"Wha-?!"

"The winner of the match is Katherine." The ref called.

Latias came down to my side and I touched her head lightly.

'Thank you Latias, you were wonderful." I returned her and Umbreon jumped around happily.

"We won!"

"You bet we did!" I said hugging her tightly. I looked up at Diantha to see her smiling.
