"Veronica!" I hear my ma yell for the sixth time but this time she came into my room pissed as hell.
"Get up! You're running late for work again! Orale!" she demands pulling the warm blanket off me.
I groan in annoyance lifting my head up from my pillow but immediately regret it. My head throbbed in pain and my eyeballs felt like they were going to roll to the back of my head. Extreme hangover alert!
My mom noticed me hurting and only made it worse by smacking my head. "Aver if this time you learn to not party and get drunk every weekend."
The thoughts of the party last night came back and I smiled. Seems like I will never learn.
"What time is it?" I asked finally.
"It's 7 o'clock, you need to get up and change so you can take your brothers to school. I have to get going your dad is waiting for me outside to take me to work. I made you a coffee and some grilled cheese so you can eat," she pauses to give me a kiss on my forehead. "I love you, traviesa. Have a nice day at work!"
"Love you too, ma."
And she left.
Little does she know that I don't actually work at least not where she thinks I do. My parents believe I work at a Japanese restaurant as a waitress which I kinda do but not exactly. An undocumented friend of mine named Rosita is working there in my name. I know it's illegal and I know if we were to get caught we both could get into a lot of trouble but I trust her and she needs some sort of job to take care of her baby girl Lilly. Anyways, I have a way more compulsive job but I will get into that in a bit right now I have to get my ass in the shower.
After my ten minute shower I changed into a gray Calvin Klein sport bra and black ripped jeans.
Once Diablo see's what I'm wearing he's gonna freak, I thought as I checked out my curves in the mirror. Oh whatever! I don't even have time to apply make-up right now.
"Ronnie hurry the fuck up!" my 17 year old brother Geo yelled calling me by my nickname.
I slipped on my black sandals and opened the door to see him standing there looking pissed I decide to ignore him because I know how bitchy he can get.
He is the most rebellious and toughest in the family. Always getting into fights in school, talking back to teachers, and partying every weekend. Same goes with my the youngest, Edgar, who is only 15. I know I'm not a good role-model because of what I do but I still try and give them advice on how to make their lives better but just like me, they never learn.
Right after we drove off to their high school and in no time we made it.
Edgar was already entering school. I wish that meant he was eager to learn but mostly to talk to his second girlfriend he's had this year. Not to mention school barely started about a month ago.
"Geo," I said before he could continue getting off the car.
He looks back with a 'what' face.
"Stay away from those cholo friends you got," I warn.
"I will only if you do so too," he replied in his deep voice.
I sigh, "that's not fair. You know I can't"
"Well when you CAN then I will too," he says then fully steps out of the car.
Before he could close the door he bends down to see me. "Take care, Ronnie. I love you."
I smile, "love you too. Take care of Edgar."
He nods.
Geo and I are really close. We protect, defend, and trust each other so much. Which is why it bothers him the way my lifestyle is. For you to understand let me introduce myself a little bit.
