"Are you sure about this?" I asked my parents for the third time.
My parents and I currently eating lunch in our kitchen table discussing about moving out.
"It's the only way we can give them a fresh start to make a change for themselves," my mom replies sadly.
By 'they' she's referring to Edgar and Geo. After hearing what Geo did last night, my parents first reaction was to blame the neighborhood for the bad influences its surrounded in. Little did they know that part of that bad influence was living under their same roof.
"Scottsdale benefits all of us. Our jobs are closer, the schools will be better for the kids and were also going to be closer to our family," my dad adds.
"It doesn't benefit me," I said. "My job is here."
"There are many jobs in Scottsdale, Ronnie. I'm sure you'll find one pretty quick."
"Yeah but," I sigh. "I don't want to move. I want to stay here."
There's no way I could leave Diablo. His family is also in Scottsdale which means he has nobody else but the gang. I will not leave him. It's not like I can anyway. The gang requires me to stay in Phoenix.
"But you'll be alone," my mom jumps in.
"Ma ya estoy grande, I'm old enough to take of myself," I insisted. "Besides this house is full of memories I don't to just let it go."
"She's right," my dad says looking at my mom. "She's not a little girl anymore."
"Ahi mi mocosa," she says almost crying.
My mom and dad are moving soon and I hate to say this but I'm happy. At least now I don't have to worry about them getting shot especially now that I know MS is hunting my brother. In Scottsdale they will be far from this war zone. Once they're out it's just me I'll have to worry about.
Right after finishing eating I went straight back to my room and took a long nap.
At around 6 o'clock I was woken up by my parents to invite me to the grocery store but I said no. Instead I want to go over at Diablos. He hasn't called or text me all day today so I wanna see why.
I called Raul to see if he was with him or at the trap but he said that not to long ago he was at his place so he should be there.
I changed into a tank top and some leggings then headed out.
In no time I was in front of his door getting my key he personally gave me to opened the door.
"Babe," I called out closing the door behind me once I was inside.
"I'm in my room," he yells back.
I entered his room and find him putting on his shoes looking cute. It made me wonder what he's getting ready for and why hasn't he hit me up.
"Where are you going?" I asks sternly.
"It's been awhile since I last visit my family so I wanna go see them today," he replies still looking down at his shoes.
"Oh," was all I could say. "How come you haven't talked to me all day?"
"I know I'm sorry I've been so busy today. There was a rumble over at the wedge so I pulled up to back up the homies. A few were shot," he muttered.
He faced up and my heart broke. There was a bruise forming on the corner of his mouth and a cut on his eyebrow.
"I'm okay baby," he whispers as he grabbed my hands pulling me towards him.
