Waffles are just Pancakes with Abs

A few days later, I woke up to the sun shining in my eyes. Groggy and with morning face, I reach for my phone.

..... Why was the entire script of the "Bee Movie" on my phone?

Oh. Elijah sent it at two in the morning. That only gave me more questions.

I walk downstairs to make some waffles to see Sophia sipping some tea and reading "The Federalist Papers".

"Hamilton wrote the other fifty one!" I greeted her.

She laughed. "Morning."

"G'morning. You want anything?"

She shook her head. I made my waffles, set them next to her and poured myself a glass of milk. When I turned back to my breakfast, they were a steaming hot bowl of pancakes.

I stared at Sophia.

"What?" She asked.

"Those are pancakes."

"Yeah, so?"

"I made waffles."

We looked at each other. Soon, our questions were answered by Mary yawning and walking through the doorway.

"Mary, did you turn my waffles into pancakes?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Mary."

"Hm?"

"I know you turned my waffles into pancakes."

"I did not! Did you see me? I just woke up!"

"Who else would have done it? Not Sofalof. Switch them back, please."

She rolled her eyes. "Fiiiiiiiine." She waved her hand and my breakfast was restored. "You're no fun."

I thanked her and began to eat. While the morning continued, our other friends walked in, the trace of sleep still in their eyes, their voices still clouded with exhaustion.

Soon we were all awake, except for Elijah. He could sleep until late afternoon if he wanted to.

"You know, it's the first weekend this year. We don't have a lot of homework because of that. We should do something fun!" I offered.

Everyone agreed.

"But is it safe?" Harry asked. "With all the demons?"

"There will be demons everywhere, Puddin." Chloe said.

"She's right, we shouldn't all hide and leave our lives because of a couple nasty monsters." Sophia spoke up.

Eventually we all agreed to go to the carnival in the Kmart parking lot. It came every few months.

"Someone should probably wake up Elijah." Chloe laughed.

I began to walk to his room, but was shoved into the wall by Mary, who ran to his room. I tried to stop her, but I was too late. I heard a crash, some yelling, an apology and a lot of swearing. Mary walked out a few moments later with a mischievous glint in her eye. "He's up!" She reported.

I stared. "Do I even want to know...."

Mary didn't answer, but poofed into a dark blue sundress and went to go get Lydia.

Checking to make sure Elijah's limbs were all intact, I told him what we were up to today. Soon, we were all ready to go, after forgetting something in the mansion or making specific friends eat breakfast.

Once we arrived at the carnival, we had a lot of fun. Elijah won me a stuffed hedgehog, Harry and Chloe went on the Ferris Wheel, Sherlock used his deducting skills to beat every game. After a few minutes, Mary could not carry all of her prizes. Gabe and Sophia ate a lot of cotton candy before I was able to stop them.

We all decided to go on the Ferris Wheel together next. Elijah, Sophia, Gabe, and I climbed into one compartment. Mary, Chloe, and Harry climbed into the other. Sherlock watched from below with Lydia. She waved one of her tiny arms.

I giggled and the wheel began to turn. The couples all held hands, and Mary tried to get in between Harry and Chloe.

Once we reached the top, the wheel stop turning and we enjoyed the view.

"I'm not a huge fan of heights..." Elijah confessed.

"Then why did you come up here?!" I asked. He shrugged.

Trying to get him to not look down, I could hear Mary screaming about her despise for heights, too.

Soon, Mary started to enjoy it, making crazy faces at Lydia so she'd giggle, and Elijah relaxed a little bit, too. All too soon, the wheel began to turn again.

Suddenly, there was a large clanking sound, and the wheel was no longer turning, but spinning out of control!

Screams filled my ears, and the wind whipped my face. I couldn't make sense of what was happening. I vaguely heard Mary screaming at Sherlock to take Lydia to safety. The wheel began to roll around the entire carnival!

Gabe grabbed Sophia, and then vanished to safety. Thanks, Gabe.

Mary tried to stop the wheel from spinning, but to no avail. Her magic was not powerful enough. We barley came across this problem.

"MARY, FLY OUT OF HERE!" I told her. She shook her head.

"I'M NOT LEAVING WITHOUT YOU!"

"YOU HAVE A CHILD YOU NEED TO TAKE CARE OF, GO!"

She knew I was right. She squeezed my hand and promised to come back. But I told her she had to take Lydia and run to safety, pointing to a sudden breakout of ominous black clouds. When I turned back, Mary was gone.

I looked at Elijah. I had to get him out of here alive. Harry and Chloe were already gone. Elijah was too terrified to speak.

I grabbed his arm and turned to fly out of the wheel, but I couldn't. The parts of the wheel could hit him. I tried to see where the wheel was headed. A lake. A lake that wasn't there before.

There was only one thing to do.

"Elijah, grab my hand, we have to get out of here!"

He did so.

I waited a moment, for the perfect opportunity, and flew out of the wheel, hitting my head on a metal rod.

I landed and looked behind me. The wheel rolled into the lake, where it sunk to the bottom. Steam drifted from where it vanished. I'm glad we got out of there.

Turning back to the carnival, I saw Mary running towards me.

"Are you okay? Are you alright? Anji, you're bleeding!" She waved her hand and my headache lessened.

"We're okay, just shaken up a little. Where are the others?"

"I sent them back to the mansion. Chloe broke her arm, but that's about it. We really got lucky."

I looked at Elijah. He was as pale as the snow Mary created over summer when we were all too hot to be productive.

"Let's head back." I mumbled. My headache had returned, and I wanted to make sure the others were okay.

As we whirled back to the Mansion, too many thoughts swirled through my head. But one thing was clear. Something or someone was out to get the Hamilteam.
