All the realizations came to me as I heard a terrible scream from down below. I ran downstairs, still in my pajamas, to see Mary looking at Lydia's empty crib, tears streaming down her face, Sherlock attempting to soothe her.
"What's wrong?!" I ran over and began to rub Mary's arm.
"L-Lydia just v-vanished w-without a-" she couldn't go on.
"Lydia is gone. We don't know where. All we found was this." Sherlock handed me a note. I have never seen him like this. He almost looked dead inside.
I read the note.
Hello Darling! It's your Pops here. I may or may not have taken little Christine and I may or may not have put her somewhere where you won't find her. See you sooner than you think. Toodloo! <3
~H"Who's "H'"? I asked.
"My father...." Mary answered. "Hades, the Lord of the Dead. He's been gone for a while..."
"Hades? Like the guy in Hercules' who's hair lights on fire? Him?"
"No, not like him. The real Hades is terrifying." She shuddered. "And he's taken my daughter!" Her eyes flashed back and her hands burst into flames.
"Calm, Bunny. We will get her back." Sherlock promised. His face showed no expression, but his voice sounded hopeful.
Sophia, Gabe, Harry, and Chloe walked in, looking alarmed. After passing around the note and giving Mary and Sherlock their sympathy, Harry and Chloe told us of a grave past with Hades.
"So he's out to get us all." Gabe's cheer had left with the warmth of the room.
I offered to go wake up Elijah and fill him in. I made my way to his room and opened the door. There was a large lump under his sheets. I carefully removed them to reveal a pile of pillows.
"Elijah?" I called out. "Where are you?"
I walked outside to the Tardis and checked everywhere there, but he was nowhere to be found. I even checked the woods near the Mansion.
Now near panic, I checked the sea on the mansion as well, calling his name.
"E! Elijah! Where are you?"
But he was nowhere to be found.
I ran back to my friends, hoping to see him there, but he wasn't.
"Where's Elijah?" Harry asked.
"I was hoping you would know...."
We all stared at each other. I felt a ball of terrible emotion, dread and panic settle in my heart. Lydia was not the only one that was gone.
