Lol, Bye

We all stood in our fighting positions, trying to register what had just happened.

"See, when Mary died, she was pregnant with Lydia. I stuck her baby back in her stomach."

I cringed. "Why didn't we know?"

"You were all too busy dying and such."

I could not believe we hadn't noticed our dear friend being pregnant.

"Feel bad? You really should." Hades took a bite of grilled cheese from the table.

"Hey! That's mine!" I whined.

"What are you going to do? I'm too powerful to be stopped." He snapped his fingers, and I was a cockroach.

That was the day I figured out cockroaches could scream, because that's all I did. Suddenly, I was a human again. Elijah was very pale, Sophia was sweating profusely. Much to my dismay, Chloe looked like she was trying not to laugh.

"Chloe!" I scolded.

"What? He may have killed part of our group, but that was funny."

I sighed. I'd deal with Chloe later.

"You're going to pay for that!" Elijah charged at Mary's father, his sonic screwdriver raised in the air.

"Elijah, wait!" I held him back.

"He could turn you into a cockroach too. Or something worse." Harry glared at Hades, a fire burning in his eyes.

"There's nothing worse than a cockroach." I mumbled.

While everyone was distracted, Chloe walked up behind Hades with the box. Our part of the plan was to keep him distracted.

"You really think you'll get me back in the box? I'm not stupid, I know why I'm supposed to be here. However, if I am put back in the box, there will be no hope of saving my daughter."

"You mean there is hope?" Sherlock perked up.

"Mmhm. As much to my dismay, there is."

"How could you say that? She's your daughter. Can you not feel any compassion towards her?" I snarled.

"Ah, you children have so much to learn."

"Actually, I'm over one billion years ol-"

Hades cut Chloe off.

"I'm saving her. You all will only get her into more trouble. She can live down in Hell with me, where she will be safer than staying up here."

Although I did not trust Hades, nor did I want to believe him, a gut instinct made me believe his words.

"I would never let Mary go live with you." I spat. My friends nodded in agreement.

"With her father? You all really are cruel."

"If we were cruel, we would let her rot with you down there!" I retorted.

Of course, the fact that Hades and Mary were connected made things a thousand times harder. How was it possible to separate them?

My eyes fell onto Mary's ring. Of course! The ring! It was what bound them together, it was what could separate them.

Chloe must have seen I had somehow made a discovery, because she gave me a quizzical look. I shook my head. If I told my friends what I had discovered Hades would be able to stop me. I walked towards him, looking at Elijah, who was trying to stop me. He seemed to understand I had a plan. He nodded and let go of me.

Sophia and I had an empathy link, meaning we could read each other's thoughts. I tried to tell her what I had figured out.

How are you going to get that ring off of him? She asked me.

I told her I didn't know, but at least we had progress. She told me she'd try her best to help.

Have you ever had that moment where you just think "Screw it!" And do something without thinking about the consequences?

That's my life.

I jumped on top of Hades, catching him by surprise and grabbing his finger, attempting to pull off the ring.

"MARY, IF YOU'RE IN THERE, FIGHT BACK!" I screamed.

It seemed like a long shot.

Suddenly, Hades began to dissolve into purple smoke. He screamed, and the noise rang throughout the house, filling our ears. He was shrinking, screaming, begging for mercy, and he was gone.

I fell to the floor. There was a dark figure standing over me. It looked strangely familiar, but I couldn't comprehend anything except for the fact that I was about to pass out.
