Sam's POV

We continued walking until we reached a small village four towns north, miles away from Dylan's pack.

"Do you want to stop and get something to eat?"

Truth be told I didn't.  I wanted to keep walking.  Keep walking until I was far away from Dylan's pack.  I hated knowing that I was running away from something, but I had no choice.  I would be of no use to anyone there if I couldn't figure out what I was suppose to be doing.  If I couldn't pull myself together to get the job done.

I hadn't even realized that I left the Elders behind as well.  I wonder how they would react when they realized that I left.  Jasper wouldn't care so much, but I was curious as to what Colten's reaction would be.  Although he made it clear he supported me I couldn't imagine him being calm about my absence.

It didn't matter now though because I had already left and I didn't plan on going back any time soon until I had finished what was necessary.

"Sure, I guess we can stop for a while."  However much I didn't want to stop I knew that I needed a boost.  My wolf was sulking and I didn't have much energy left.

Joey and I made our way over to a small diner in the center of the village.  I was surprised there weren't many people walking around but I let it go for now.

We stepped inside and I was instantly met with the smell of coffee and pie.  An older woman around her 60s came up to us and ushered us over to a booth.

" My name is Cynthia.  What can I get for you two?"

Something was off.  I didn't know what, but I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.  Joseph noticed my distracted mind and answered the waitress for me as well as himself.

"I will take a black coffee and an order of fries while my friend will have a double latte and a slice of chocolate pie."

I was taken aback by his words.

"How did you know what I would order?"  I asked after Cynthia made her way to the kitchen.

"Sam, it's not the first time we have ever been in a diner together."  His words were laced with regret as he recalled the last time we were in the diner.

I was on my way to Sherley's Diner, a small coffee shop on the edge of town.  I came here almost every day.  I was in a small town in northern Maine and had been here for about a month.  Normally I don't like staying in one place for so long, but I hadn't run in to any trouble so I figured I would be alright for a little while longer.

I arrived at the Diner shortly after and took my normal booth by the emergency exit in the back.  After ordering my food I sat with a book in my hands and my head down.  I was exhausted from all of the training I'd been doing in the gym for the past two weeks.  Countless hours of pure work were spent to increase my endurance and speed.

I didn't notice the approaching figure coming up to me.  I was naive enough to not think anything of it when the man sat down.  I finally pealed my eyes away from my book to look at the man whose eyes I could feel staring at me.

In front of me was a man in his mid 20s.  His black hair was a short military style while his eyes gazed at me with intense curiosity.  His face was covered in a slight stubble making him look like a lost soldier.

"Can I help you, sir?"  Why I was being hospitable to a stranger was unknown to me.  I could tell he was another werewolf, but I couldn't move.  I felt as though I had no reason to fear him.
