Sam's POV
I saw myself sitting in a chair across the room. I don't know how to explain it but I wasn't me. Whoever I currently was was stood leaning against the wall waiting. Waiting for what I was uncertain but waiting nonetheless.
I watched as the fingers of the sleeping girl started to twitch. She groaned and looked up trying to make sense of her surroundings. She seemed to be clueless to the fact that I was there and all I could feel was annoyance.
Everything that I was feeling at this moment wasn't me. I was only an observer in another's body.
What right does this insolent little bitch have that she thinks she can ignore me? Whatever happens is her fault.
I should have realized it sooner, but I was Joseph. Everything I was feeling was coming from him. I was in his body and was being forced to not only remember that day but to feel his emotions on top of my own as well.
He stood and cleared his throat. Immediately the girl's head snapped around to look in our direction.
Why isn't she doing anything? She should be begging me not to hurt her or begging me to just kill her quickly. She shouldn't just be sitting there with a blank face.
"I don't want to do this you know. But what choice do I have? He has her and it's all your fault. If you didn't exist she would still be safe. It's your fault."
I watched my 13 year old self cower back into the chair, showing her fear for the first time.
"What did I ever do to you? I only met you yesterday."
I felt pure anger run through my current body. I knew all too well what was coming next. Nothing good could come from an angry male wolf.
I had had no time to react before my head snapped to the left. His hand left a burning sensation on my cheek. The crack of my neck still audible echoing off the walls.
Thank you, bitch.
I felt an evil grin appear on his mouth at his own thought.
"You shouldn't have opened your damn mouth."
I didn't move a muscle. I had decided that no matter what I would not give him the satisfaction of hearing my pain. I may not have realized it at that moment but that was the second that I turned cold. I was never the same after I escaped. I was cold to strangers and avoided people whenever I could. There were very few people who I ever let see me.
Joseph's fists clenched. He looked down to see four red arcs in each of his palms. His wolf continued to push underneath the surface trying to take control. I could feel the fight between them as Joey tried to fight off his wolf. It was strange because I could feel it myself. It felt like two halves of a whole were being torn in opposite directions, each wanting something different. In the end Joseph's wolf shoved him to the back and took control.
My old self was still sat looking to the side with her eyes closed breathing evenly. I remembered thinking that this was the end. I didn't see how there was any way for me to get out alive, but I wasn't going to give in to death so easily.
Joseph's wolf was out to seek revenge. He blamed me even more than his human did for the kidnapping of his mate.
I felt as helpless now as I had 5 years ago as I saw his claws sink into my right shoulder. The little girl's breathe shuddered, but otherwise made no indication to the pain. The wolf's fury increased and he ripped his claws out in retaliation, taking with him the skin of her shoulder. He repeated this until boths shoulders were drenched in blood.
