Sam's POV

Tenebrae.

That damn family ruined my life.  I shouldn't have been surprised to find out it was him, but I had thought that I would never have to deal with them again.

Cole was Blake's son, the one that he wanted me to marry.  The one that was the cause for everything bad in my life so far.  If it weren't for him I would still have my family and I would have them to help me get through tough times.

I had only ever met Cole once and I hated him from the start.

I was wondering around the woods again.  It's where I always went when I was upset.  I would walk to the cave behind the waterfall and just sit.  The sound of the rushing water calming me, helping me to let go of my troubles even just for a little bit.

Even at age 6 my life wasn't perfect.  It was a few months before I had first shifted and I was always aggitated.  My wolf wanted out, but it wasn't time yet.  Instead, all of that pent up energy from my wolf became anger.  Anger that was directed towards anyone who annoyed me.  Sometimes I would get annoyed even if they weren't doing anything either.

Life was hell in the months leading to my change and I decided I wanted a break.

I ran away for 3 days.  During that time I stayed hidden behind the waterfall where my scent was covered.  I could hear the feet of wolves running passed the waterfall every few hours.  I lost count of how many times they passed.

Those three days away from everything was like heaven.  Where my wolf used to be trying to claw her way out she now rested peacefully within me, at peace that she was home.  Outside where I could breathe the fresh air she was always calm.  The problem was though, that when I was at home I was heavily watched and guarded.  I almost never had time alone and my parents didn't want me outside of the back yard.

The first two nights I would come out and hunt.  Although I was only 6 I could hunt perfectly.  My parents never knew, but I had taken one of the bows that were always hanging in the war closet.  I learned to shoot it when I was five and from there on I had always loved it.  During the nights when the pack wolves were called back to rest I would come out from behind the water and hunt.  Each night I would catch a small rabbit and cook it over a fire about a mile from my cave.

The first two nights went by flawlessly.  It was on the third, however, when I ran into trouble.

I had just began to cook my rabbit when I heard leaves crunching behind me.  I had immediately abandoned my rabbit and took up my bow, aiming it towards the sound, and arrow ready to pierce the heart of approaching danger.

I wasn't prepared for him to walk out though.  He was short with brown eyes and ginger red hair.  It made his appearance unsettling.  He stood there watching me and I watched him.  I didn't think he was danger, but I could tell my wolf was uncomfortable.  I decided to break the unnerving silence.

"Who are you and why are you on my parents' territory?"

He laughed as though I was asking the wrong questions.

"Oh princess.  You have your whole pack in an uproar.  Your parents are ready to kill everything in their paths to find you.  If you were smart you would never have ran away, but I guess you aren't smart so..."
