4 Years Earlier

4 YEARS EARLIER   I was running in my wolf form like always. I had been running for 4 years and had managed to avoid the Darkness at all costs. I don't know how they hadn't found me yet. I mean seriously they were spread out all over the world and I still managed to stay off the grid.

I wasn't exactly sure where I was right then, I think somewhere in the western part of the U.S. I don't really pay attention to where I go as I travel. Last time I checked I was in Nevada by a small town by the Rocky Mountains.

Anyway, like I said, I was still running. I found a beautiful pond in the middle of the woods. There was even a little stream with a small water fall that connected to it. I had decided to stop because I had been running for 2 days. I had come too close to those with the Darkness when I decided to stay in the city for a month. I felt them getting close so I fled like always.

So there I was in my human form for the first time in 2 days in only a pair of running shorts and a sports bra. My golden hair had been cut shoulder length so my training was easier for me, but now it lay in knots with me trying to finger comb them out. My bright blue eyes were bare of any make-up because I found it annoying and a hassle. I didn't need it anyway what with my eyelashes black and full.

I had just gotten out of the pond from my swim when I heard a twig snap not too far away from me. I turned to my right to see a black wolf with the greenest eyes I had ever seen.   I should have been scared by his size, but I wasn't, I couldn't be. My wolf was ecstatic within me jumping and yipping in joy because this strange eyed wolf was our mate. The one whom was meant to be ours and protect us. I was snapped out of my thoughts when he stepped behind a tree only to step back out in his human form.

Even at my lousy age of 14 I could say he was the best looking guy I had ever seen. He had messy tousled black hair that hung just above his eyes. Because he was only wearing a pair of shorts I could see the abs that were already there. My god he looked amazing. Oh and his lips. They were upturned it the slightest of smile but I could tell it was genuine. I wanted to run into his arms and kiss those lips, but I couldn't, not yet.

He took a step forward so naturally I took one back. He frowned slightly and held up his hands to show he was no harm.

"Don't go. I'm not going to hurt you." He spoke softly as to not frighten me.  Mmmm, his voice was delicious.  The truth was I only stepped back becasue I knew I couldn't get attached yet.

"What's your name, kitten?"

"What's your's?" I asked back.

"Dylan. Dylan Evergreen. Only son of Alpha John Evergreen and Luna Emma Evergreen of the Silver Legend Pack."

My eyes widened at I finally realized he was of Alpha blood. He would become Alpha at age 18 and from the looks of that was in only a few years.  What was worse was that his father was the Alpha of the largest and most powerful pack in the world.  Trust me, I'm not over exaggerating.

He asked me my name again, but I quickly avoided his question with one of my own.

"How old are you, Dylan?" I asked as my eyes gazed curiously around him to see if anyone else was coming.

"15. Will you please tell me your name, love?"

"My name isn't important right now," I said as I walked towards him. "What is important though is that you know that I am not rejecting you right now, I accept you as my mate as long as you accept me."

"Of course I do, why wou-" I cut him off by placing my hand over his mouth.

"I can not stay with you right now. There is a lot that you don't know about me and right now it isn't safe for people to know that I'm alive. I make this promise to you as my mate right now, I will return when the time is right. This I swear to you."

"Please don't leave, I can help with whatever is wrong." His voice was so full of pain that my wolf whimpered inside of me and wished for me to go and comfort him.  I only shook my head sadly to his offer.

"I have to leave, I'm sorry. So so sorry." I pulled him into a tight hug which he immediately returned. It felt like I could stay there forever, but then reality came back. I pulled back and gave him a quick kiss. Before he could respond I ran. As soon as I made it passed the tree line I stripped and shifted. I knew I wouldn't break that promise. I would be living every day waiting for the day that I could return to him, to my mate, to my love.
