“Mason! Mason! Mason! Mason! Mason! Mason! Mason! Mason! Mason! Mason! Mason! Mason! Mason! Mason! Mason!” I rolled over on my bed and pretended to still be sleeping. “Mason!” The indistinct voice of a person yelled again.
Shut up Mom I signed sleepily into my pillow, willing the person to obey me.
“Oh is that the way you talk to your mother?!” the then distinctly male voice screeched.
Yes I answer and turned away from the boy talking to me.
“Well how rude, I thought I raised you better,” said the over dramatic voice of the person I then identified as Jeremy pretending to be my mother.
You’re not my momma now let me sleep boy I signed.
“No! You have to baby sit my sister while my mom works and I go to a party!!!” hyper Jeremy yelled. “Now get up before I pour this cold water on top of you!!” With those simple words I jumped out of bed.
“Hahahahaha, I didn’t even have water with me!” Jeremy screeched while laughing.
Pfft, whatever I replied hotly. I decided to change the subject. How did you get into my room anyway? The door was locked. Jeremy smiled a mischievous grin.
“I persuaded Norah to give me a set of your apartment keys,” he responded nonchalantly. Oh my lanta that means he can come in my apartment anytime he wants. That will NOT be helpful. I hurried into the bathroom to get ready so I could get ready to babysit.
So where is this party you’re going to? I asked. I was merely curious.
“Why do you want to know? Are you going to stalk me?” Jeremy asked smirking deviously. What an idiot.
Uh, no! I’m babysitting Oxie, remember? I reminded him. He pouted.
“Oh yea… well it’s not far from here. It’s a couple blocks from the apartment building,” Jeremy answered.
Oh I see. What time will one of you be back to pick up Oxie? I asked. I had to make sure I wouldn’t be worrying my butt off, wondering when he was goint to get back.
“Um, I should be back around midnight. Don’t worry about when my mother will be back. She works at the hospital so there is no specific time she will be back. If she does come back before me tell her to go to bed. She needs her sleep,” Jeremy responded in a daze.
Wait, will she be coming here or will I be at your apartment? I threw on a shirt and a pair of jeans and walked back out of the bathroom. Jeremy shrugged.
“It doesn’t matter, go back and forth for all I care,” he said. He checked his phone before looking back up at me. He smirked. “Brush your hair, I’m going to get her”. Jeremy sashayed out the door. I rushed back into the bathroom to check my hair and sure enough my blonde locks were sticking up all over the place. Just great. I brushed them into place and sat on my bed to wait for them.
The door burst open minutes later and a giggling girl ran into the room. Jeremy was trailing behind her, making sure she didn’t bump into anything. Unsuccessfully I might add. The girl looked to be seven and had long wavy bright sunset colored hair. She had the same vibrant emerald eyes as Jeremy and the same plump pink lips. She had on a pink sparkly dress with lots of frills and lace and a matching gigantic bow in her hair. The girl ran over to me and hugged my knees.
“Hi,” Oxie’s voice choked out. It made my heart melt that even though she couldn’t hear she still tried to speak. She looked up at me and grinned enthusiastically.
