First he notices that there's a knife missing

Then he realizes at night he doesn't get his little girl's kisses

She's been going to sleep a lot earlier

And he starts to realize he never really speaks to her

He calls her teacher, hoping for explanation

She says the girls been down for four weeks end

So he goes to talk to his angel and spots a knife at her wrist

And she cries "Daddy I'm sorry I just need to get rid of the stress!"

He's feels like his whole world is falling

His eldest, his youngest, they both wanna be dying

One is bullied and the other is broken

One is okay now but the other is soft spoken

He takes his girl into his arms and begs her to halt

She says she just wanted the pain to stop

So little girl please don't cry

Your dad doesn't know what he'd do if you died

You're his light, his little smily baby

You're life if unreplaceable, and that's not a maybe!

So please don't cut, please don't cut

I know you're stuck in a rut, but just this once, please don't cut, please don't cut

She tells her mom then her gran but she doesn't tell her sister

She knows her 'friend' wouldn't even miss her

She promises to stop but she knows it's a lie

Can't you see she's dying inside?!

She says "Oh Daddy, won't you forgive me? I'm thinking if I left no one would miss me."

She's sitting in her room with the blade her hand

She's crying because she knows if she wants to die she can

She places it against her neck but curses and it's down

But inside she knows she's a nobody in this town

So little girl please don't cry

Your dad doesn't know what he'd do if you died

You're his light, his little smily baby

You're life if unreplaceable, and that's not a maybe!

So please don't cut, please don't cut

I know you're stuck in a rut, but just this once, please don't cut, please don't cut

The next night she's bleeding like crazy

She hates to admit it but her vision is getting hazy

She cries out "Daddy! Come save me!"

He comes running down and takes her to the hospital

They have her hooked up to blood, tell her family she's unstable

A few hours later she's slowly getting better

But she doesn't wanna face her parents, the thought makes her heart hurt

So little girl please don't cry

Your dad doesn't know what he'd do if you died

You're his light, his little smily baby

You're life if unreplaceable, and that's not a maybe!

So please don't cut, please don't cut

I know you're stuck in a rut, but just this once, please don't cut, please don't cut

Think about your mom, and your sister, and the brother that loves you

Think about your friends, and your grandparents, the father that adores you

Before you take the blade to your wrist you gotta ask yourself who you're leaving behind

Baby make me a promise, that tonight you won't die
