When he wants attention

Harry: He'll usually just stare at you longingly and occasionally sighing sadly (and loudly) until you decide to focus solely on him, making him brighten up immediately

Ron: He would keep complaining to Hermione, Harry, Ginny, pretty much everyone he came into contact with, that he wanted your attention. Whoever he was complaining to, they'd tell him where you were and he'd run as quickly as he could to where you were.

Draco: He'd take away whatever was distracting you from him and if it was a person (and as long as it wasn't a professor) he'd make up some excuse for you to leave and would not let you go for the rest of the day.

Fred: He'd try to get his mind off of his need for attention by pranking nonstop. It took you a while to notice this and he ended up moping around until you paid attention to him.

George: He'd do something big to impress you and to get your attention back on him. He once even purposely broke his arm and asked you to take care of him. Oh, this boy.
