The sound of sirens grew quieter as i flew back to my apartment. "That's another $300 to add to the bank account." I said to myself, smirking wickedly. I then stopped and landed on the building underneath me, a cafe. I had the slightest feeling that someone was following me, and i was right. I looked down to see a purple Lamborghini parked outside the cafe. Joker. Great. Suddenly the car door opened and he stepped out. I quickly hid my wings and tucked a loose strand of my black - dip dyed purple - hair behind my ear. "Well hello there Angel." He smirked, leaning against the car door. I scowled at him, crossing my arms. I hate Joker. He's always either getting in my way or ruining my chances of killing the Bat. "What do you want freak?" I spat. He suddenly burst into laughter. "I prefer psychotic freak." He said, slowly dying down his laughter. I rolled my eyes in disgust. How can people actually fear this clown? He's just a joke and a bad one at it. With an evil grin on his face, he beckoned me to come down to him. After a bit of hesitation i jumped off the roof, landing perfectly on my feet, then walked over to him. "What do you want?" I spat at him again. The grin on his face quickly disappeared. "Do not speak to me that way." He said through gritted metal plated teeth. "Now i have a proposition for you. If you don't take it, i'll simply kill you." He smiled. Is this guy serious? Wait don't answer that. "Well what's the proposition?" I asked, starting to get annoyed. "That's for me to know and for you to find out. You have 24 hours to...um... make up your mind. Meet me at my night club tomorrow night." I was about to say something to him, but before i could i got a sharp pain in the back of my head and everything went black.
I slowly opened my eyes, feeling the heat of the morning sun on my face. Slowly i sat up and stretched my arms, but then i froze once i realized where i was. I was in my bedroom, in my apartment. Last thing i remember was Joker telling me that i had to take this proposition of his. What that proposition is, i don't know yet. But i had up till tonight to make up my mind. My options: To either do this thing for the Joker, the guy i hate second most in my life. or to die a most probable slow and painful death. I think i'll go with option A. But hey, maybe it was all just a dream. I pulled off the soft sheets and flung my legs over the side of the bed. I slowly stood up and made my way to the kitchen. I went to open the fridge, but something stuck on it caught my eye. it was a playing card. A joker playing card. I grabbed it off the fridge door and flipped it over. On the back it read:
Hey doll, can't wait to see you again tonight. Meet me at the bar. Don't try hiding from me, cause you know i'll find you -J
"Nope, definitely not a dream." I sighed to myself, throwing the card in the bin. Then i realized something. That freak was in my apartment! A small headache started to form from how annoyed and angry i was. I really had no choice did i? I grabbed a strawberry up-and-go from the fridge and walked into the small lounge room. I dumped myself onto the couch and turn on the tv. "At 11:53 last night, the Joker was caught by police at Gotham Library and was soon taken to Arkham Asylum." The blonde news woman said with a serious face. "Well that's good news." I said to myself, taking a sip of my drink. As long as he's locked away in there, i'm a free woman. Right? Well right now i'm not gonna worry about it, i'm just gonna focus on right now and... i was interrupted from my thoughts by a ding. I checked my phone and i had received a text from my little brother Jacob.
(Jacob) Hey Maddie
(Maddie) Hey little bro, haven't spoken to you in a while. Everything ok?
(Jacob) Yea everything's fine, can't i just say hi?
(Maddie) Meet me at our cafe
We don't really own a cafe, but we both go there often. One day i plan to buy it with the money i...steal. As i was about to put my phone back on the coffee table, i received a text from one of my good friends Floyd.
(Floyd) Hey Angel. Meet me at the night club down town at 9pm
It was more of a demand than a question, so i just replied with a thumbs up emoji. The thing i didn't really think of at the time was that that was the club that the clown wanted to meet me at. It probably didn't cross my mind because he was locked up. I turned my phone off and placed it back on the table.
"Okay, well i'll call you tomorrow or something." Jacob said, finishing off his toasted cheese sandwich. I pushed out my chair and stood up, Jacob doing the same. "Okay. Bye Jacob Take care of mum and dad alright." I smiled, pulling him into a hug. I love my little brother a lot, and i know he loves me back even though i am a criminal. He was so upset when i told him i was moving out of the house. I couldn't have all my gear there without mum or dad finding it. So now i live alone in my little apartment, it's small but big enough for one person. We pulled out of the hug and both headed for the exit. "You didn't pay, did you." He asked grabbing my arm with a slight disappointed look on his face. Jacob is the only one in the family who knows about me being a criminal. "Of course i did." I lied. I hate lying to him, but i'm a criminal for god sake. I don't do pay, especially for stuff like this. I'm trying to save my money to buy it, not waste my money on food from it.
We said our goodbyes and parted our ways, walking off in opposite directions. Floyd asked me to meet him at Joker's night club, and i needed to go home and get ready. I know i don't seem like the type of person to go to night clubs, you're right, i'm not. After about fifteen minutes of walking I finally got home. I walked up the four flights of stairs and reached my front door. I pulled my keys out of my pocket and un-locked the door. I quickly turned around, I had that feeling again. The feeling that someone was watching me. But I couldn't see anyone, so I just left the thought alone. I walked inside my apartment, closing the door behind me, and went straight to my room. "Now, something to wear." I opened up my wardrobe and stared at all my black, grey and other dull coloured clothes. I'm not one to wear bright colours, just mainly black and/or grey. "Should I just wear my Angel suit?" I asked myself, skimming through the clothes. Yes, I talk to self a lot, what do you expect from a girl who lives on her own? After a bit of looking I finally found something descent to wear. Black ripped jeans, plain grey mid-drift, a black leather jacket, a black beanie and my favourite pair of black converse. "Meh, good enough." I shrugged my shoulders and walked into the bathroom. No, I don't wear make-up, and I never will. I stared at myself in the mirror. People say I'm pretty, but I know they just say it to be nice. I'm covered in scars, I get a new one every time I fight someone. I fix up my hair until I look presentable, then I head back towards the front door. "Wait, I can't forget this." I remind myself quickly. I run back into my room and grabbed my black handgun and hide it in my jacket. I always need to be prepared.
