"Renesmee, sweetie, why don't you go lay down?" I asked my daughter as I saw her falling asleep on the couch, her daughter in her arms. She nodded, before standing. "There's a spare bed just down the hall." I informed her, as she handed me Chloe. The baby never woke, settling in my arms quickly and quietly. "Wake me up if I'm needed." She muttered, reminding me of her 'teenage years'. "Will do." I smiled, before looking over at the man who had saved my daughter's life. Seeing how he was healing. His fingers and arms were blackened, but now the skin had somewhat formed back. His clothes stuck to his body, easy to remove if wanted. His face was misshapen from the fire, almost as if a human had a face reconstruction that didn't quite work.

"Is she gone?" he asked, opening his eyes. I quickly stood at my fast speed, placing Chloe behind me. I quickly stretched out my shield, covering us both from his powers. I could see that his eyes were golden, like ours, but he was still a part of the voltori. Standing strong, I waited for him to get up, to fight me. "Bella, isn't it?" he asked, but I made no response. "I don't want to hurt anyone in your family. I'm sure Renesmee told you that." "Thank you for saving her." I spoke harshly though my teeth. I still couldn't trust him. "Oh, Bella. Don't treat our guest's like that." Alice spoke, fluttering into the room. She quickly helped him to sit up.

Her happy go nature quickly informed me that he was not going to try anything. I softened slightly, but I made sure I was still alert. I also dropped my shield. "Is that Chloe or J.J?" he asked, nodding to the child behind my back. "Renesmee showed me quite a lot." He explained, a small smile on his face. He seemed... normal. "Chloe." I simply stated, holding the child in my arms again. She had woken because of the sharp movement, and was now looking around the room, wondering what had happened. I ran my fingers over her cheek, before leaning down and kissing the young girls forehead.

"She's much bigger than what Renesmee showed me." "She grows at a slightly faster rate than her brother. But she's completely fine. They both will turn out the same way Renesmee did." Alice spoke, fluttering around the house. Watching her, I wondered what she was doing. "Right." Alec spoke, and my attention went back to him. "How did you know the fire wouldn't hurt us?" I asked him after a moment. He laughed softly. "It reacts to my powers like rain down a window pane. Once the path is there it's simple to follow." He stated, and we fell quiet again.

"Bella, I wish to join your family." He asked, and to say I was shocked would about been an understatement. "I know my history isn't the best, and I'm sorry for how I have behaved in the past, but Aro had changed since the last time we met." "Changed?" I asked. How had he changed if he kidnapped my daughter? "He went out looking for others, recruiting them if he knew they could defeat someone in your family. Let go of everyone that wasn't.... needed." He explained, and I understood what he meant by those words. It was hard to comprehend, but it was understood. "He was building an army to defeat you. He had that army when he took Renesmee."

"He knew that you would come after her, after all you are her mother." He informed me. "When you would have arrived, he would have slaughtered you all. So I began trying tricks with my own powers." He added, holding up his hands. "I began testing them, seeing if they worked under water, what I could and couldn't do." "You were planning to attack them all?" "I was trying to stop a war." He corrected. "I didn't want this anymore then you probably did." I didn't know what to say. What was I meant to tell him? That even thought he saved my daughter, I didn't trust him at all.
