Chapter 9

*Chase's POV*

"Hey Chase, come here." Dale yells

"Yeah?"

"I'm having a BBQ tonight. Bring some dish with you." He quickly states walking away.

"Thanks?"

"You can go home then." Alan tells me.

"Thanks. I'll see you tomorrow."

I walk out of the shop and head towards the door.

I don't think Dale would care if I invited Callie.

I grab my phone from the middle console and dial her number.

Callie - Hey babe!

Chase - Hey sweetheart!

Callie - What'cha need?

Chase - Well Dale is having a small party tonight, I thought you would want to come with me.

Callie - Of course baby! I'll be at your place in an hour.

Chase - I'll see ya then.

She hangs up and I set my phone down.

I'm really about to do this. I'm going to show everyone, including myself that I have moved on and Callie really is my girlfriend.

I stop at the store before heading home. I pick up the ingredients to a caesar salad mix, that Bryn would always make and some drinks.

When I walk inside of my now empty house, I quickly mix the salad together and head to my room to grab a pair of khaki shorts and a plain blue t-shirt. 

I then head back down stairs and waited for Callie.

Soon I hear a car pull into the driveway, I grabbed the food and headed out the door before locking it. Callie meets me at my truck. I set the food in the truck before she clung on to me.

"Hi baby!"

"Hey Callie."

"Thanks for inviting me."

"It's no problem, I want you to finally meet some of the guys."

"Aww, you're so sweet!"

"Yeah well let's go, we're going to be late."

*Bryn's POV*

"Hey Bryn!" Amy cheers as I walk in.

"Hi Amy, I'm guessing Dale told you."

"Yes, I hope you don't mind. I truly missed you at the other races."

"I know me too. So I brought what Dale asked for me to bring."

"Why, you just got out of the hospital."

"It's fine."

"Well how's the baby?"

"They're all fine, no damage luckily."

"Well that's good, where's Ava?

"John-Hunter and the guys brought her out back."

"Then let's join them. I want to see that little girl."

Amy sets down the dessert and brings the appetizer outside, as I follow behind her. She sets the food on the table and walks over to Dale who is holding Ava and making her laugh.

"Hey sweetheart, how are you feeling?" JH asks.

"I'm fine. It was good to see Amy again."

"Yeah, I bet. You too were really close."

"Tanner." I squeal after Kasey and his little family walk in.

"Bryn?" Tanner and Sammy both question.

"Yep, it's me. I've missed my little guy." I cheer as Tanner hugs me.

Sammy also hugs me and then Amy comes over. Tanner then runs away to go play with Ava.

Amy, Sammy, and me all catch up while sitting at one of the tables that are set up. As Dale and the guys are all gathered around the grill cooking, I get upset as I see Chase didn't show up.

"Hey you seem upset, are you ok?"

"No, I'm fine."

As I say that Chase walks in the gate leading from the driveway to the backyard, but he's not alone.

"Ah, Chase finally showed up." Amy observed.

"Yeah but with that thing he calls a girlfriend." Sammy laughs.

"What?" I ask clueless.

"Callie Melkins. NFL Carolina Panthers cheerleader."

"He met her at a bar, maybe a week after the divorce. Started as a one night stand, she kept clinging as he tried to get rid of her. But finally tried a relationship with her. She is not nice and whines a lot."

"Oh." Was all I could form.

"He sunk real low." Sammy states while Amy agrees.

She had the stereotype blonde hair, blue eyes, and the body that every girl wants. She was wearing a skin tight crop top, showing the bikini top she was wearing under, with a pair of shorts that clung to her bottom.

"Never will like her." I state, while Amy and Sammy chuckle.

Chase set down a tray of food on the table. Then started walking towards the guys, the blonde never leaving Chase's arm. I was already irritated with her, and I hadn't once talked to her.

Chase made it over to the other guys and JH starts to walk away, along with Will.

"Hey, this is where the life of the party is at." Will snickers.

"Man I can't stand that girl." Sammy complains.

"I think she's stuck to that boy."

Everyone laughs at the joke Amy makes.

Then he turned around and saw all of us.

*Chase's POV*

We arrive at Dale's and I hop out of the truck. I grab the food then shut my door. Then I noticer Callie was still sitting in the truck. I walk over a little annoyed and open her door. She gives me a quick peck before clinging to my arm.

Instead of walking through the house I head to the gate on the side of the house and head to the back of the house. I see Amy and Sammy sitting at the table and some one else, but I coulnd't tell who it was. I walk over to the table full of food and set down the salad, then walk over to the other guys around the grill.

I see Dale, Erik, Reed, Kasey, another guy and Will all standing around cracking up jokes.

Once I walk up to them with Callie still stuck to my arm Will and the other guy walk away and towards the three ladies at the table.

"He showed up." Dale taunted.

"Yes sorry had to wait for Callie."

"It's fine."

The guys pick up where they left off, and I join in. While Callie hangs on to my arm watching Tanner and...........

Ava

Ava. Tanner was playing with Ava. Will was here, and so was John-Hunter. While Erik and Reed knew all along. The other girl I saw with Sammy and Amy is Bryn.

I quickly turn around and see them all laughing and looking over here. But then I lock eyes with Bryn, and she loses the smile I fell for.

Now I wish I wouldn't have brought Callie.
