My foot taped nervously on the tile floor. The uncomfortable waiting room chairs weren't any help. I continuously scrolled through the already opened emails on my phone. Trying to find something else to keep my nerves down.

"Bryn Elliott?" A nurse called making me snap my head up.

I gave a weak smile before following her down the hallway and into the unoccupied room. This was my first prenatal visit since my latest panic attack when my body shut down. I was very nervous, that and the fact I told Chase he could come as well. I mean it was his child. But he hadn't showed up yet, so that really was throwing me off.

"Hi Mrs. Elliott!" Dr. Williams cheers walking in.

"Hi." I mumble.

"Well lets...." He starts before getting cut off by the door opening. Chase quickly walks in and sits in the chair next to me.

"I'm sorry I'm a little late." Chase explains.

"No, no it's fine. I was just about to start."

Through out the appointment Chase sat back in his chair until the screen showed the baby.

"Wow, it still amazes me a baby is growing inside you." Chase smiles sitting up more in his seat.

"Yes, so you're about 13 weeks in. The baby seems healthy, a steady heart beat."

"That's good." Chase and I say together.

"Yes, pictures for today?"

Before I answer Chase says a quick yes. The doctor steps out to grab the pictures leaving Chase and I.

"Sorry I was so late, I didn't know if you actually wanted me to come. I'm also sorry I thought it was John-Hunter's."

"It's fine."

It went silent again before Chase spoke up.

"How do we want to work this out?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well with the baby."

"I mean you told me you'd send money for Ava and keep her, so why not do the same with the baby." I raise my voice as anger builds up.

"I'm sorry I said that. I again thought it'd be easier if we lost all contact."

"You want to know the hardest part, telling Ava why you just suddenly left."

"I bet." He quietly mumbles.

He had the freaking nerves to say I bet.

Another awkward silence came over us. The doctor breaking it briefly to hand Chase the pictures and then talking quick about the next appointment.

"I'm sorry." Chase mumbles. "I'm sorry I have to say sorry so much."

"You say it so much I don't even think you mean it any more." I seethed back.

I walk back down the hall and into the waiting room to the receptionist desk. I make my next appointment and continue out the doors, Chase still following right behind. I stop at my Chevy Suburban and turn to see Chase still right behind me.

"What?" I sass.

"Thank you, for letting me come today." He slightly smiles. "It just made my day to see that baby up on the screen."

"You're welcome. Now I have to get Ava from school."

Without getting an answer from Chase I hop into the front seat and start up the car. When I look out the window Chase has taken a few steps away from the car but still stands there. He slightly waves as I start to drive off.
