"So you finally got a day off to spend with us?" Amy smiles making Sammy laugh.
"Yeah, I didn't have much work to do. With the expansion on the shop I don't have much to do anyway. Plus Chase asked to take Ava from school and have her for the afternoon."
"Aw, so you guys worked things out?" Sammy questions.
"I mean I guess we can stand each other for more than 5 minutes without fighting and finally get along."
"But..."
"I still love him?"
"We know you do." Amy agreed.
We were currently browsing through stores and I guess shopping, but more like examining and giving opinions. But every now and then we'd find something we really liked and would buy it. It had been awhile since we had a girls day to enjoy ourselves. we had got our nails down and then got lunch before.
"Well Dale and Kasey were taking us to Mr. Hendrick's last minute dinner, some fancy but casual dinner. We were asked to invite you and John-Hunter." Sammy speaks looking through the racks in front of her.
"Well we would love to come, we were just going to order pizza and have a lazy night." I smile.
"Good and like Sammy said it's fancy but also laid back."
I nodded understanding and continuing to look over the clothes in front of us. After another 5 stores we all decided to call it a day and go home to get ready for this dinner. I drove my black Camaro (not gonna specify because can't choose which one I like best) with Eric Church playing lightly through out. I had texted John-Hunter and he was going to meet me at the house. Apparently it had to do with some last minute Hendrick issue, so they planned a dinner and invited Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, as well as their families.
I pull into the familiar driveway and grab the few bags from shopping and walk into the house. Walking into this house and it being quiet with no nonsense going on almost startled me. It wasn't everyday I could come home and hear myself. I usually came home to the guys playing video games and Ava being the little girl she was and arguing with one of the guys.
When I pass William's room the sound of water running reminds of why I'm home and the fact I only have a short period of time to look nice. When I walk into my room I see JH laying on my bed with his outfit laid at the end. He smiles at me before I drop my bags near my closet and giving him a quick kiss before grabbing something to wear and head into the shower. Once I'm out I am quick to dry my hair and change into my outfit. I threw on the white fitting pants and the coral off the shoulder frilled top. I dry my hair and leave my hair on it's natural wave state and put minimal makeup on. I grab a long anchor necklace and a matching bracelet. I finish off the outfit with a pair of cream colored wedged sandals.

I find John-Hunter in a black white button up top and a pair of black pants. We walk down stairs into the house and see William and Lara dressed nicely as well. They were joining us as we were all riding in Will's truck.
When we get to the venue Will parks on the backside for special reservations like this. We hop out of the truck after it's parked and walk into the main doors. A waiter leads us to a closed off room where I soon spot most everyone. I hadn't expected to see Chase, Ava, and Chase's so called girlfriend though. Everyone was standing around conversing with each other. As we walk into the room Ella Gordon comes up to me.
"Ahh, Bryan it's so good to see you again! I missed you."
"Ella it has been too long! You're so old now." I joke.
I continue to converse with Ella and Ingrid while JH and William talk to the others.
*Chase's POV*
"Hey Ava!" I smile at the little girl that runs to me in the school lobby.
"Hi Chase!" She shows her toothy grin.
She continues to tell me all about her day as I walk to my truck and sit her in the back. I had planned on taking her home and making mac n cheese with cheeseburgers because that was our favorite, but Mr. Hendrick called together a 'really important' business meeting dinner. So I invited Callie as well.
I didn't really have any nice clothes for Ava, actually I didn't have any clothes for Ava. So that's where we were going first. I pull into a store for clothes close by the school and let Ava pick out a nice outfit and shoes. When she decides I pay and we head to my house.
When we arrive I grab Ava and her bag and walk inside. I set her on a stool at the island and grab a juice box and a package of cheez its. We continue to talk about little things and then I take her upstairs and give her a bath before putting one of my old shirts on her. Got to be cautious she won't make a mess on her dinner outfit. I set her on my bed and turn on a movie and take my turn for a shower. When I'm finished I put on a nice grey top and a pair of plain black pants.
By the time Ava and I are completely finished getting ready Callie had already arrived. I open the door allowing her in the house, she was wearing a short, tight, red dress. With her blonde hair curled down her back. She pots Ava sitting down putting her shoes on.
Callie scoffs. "I didn't know you were babysitting."
"I wanted to take her for the evening. She's so fun and happy go lucky." I smile at the little girl.
"Oh Chase, she's your ex's child, she shouldn't be much to you."
I tighten my hands into fist and breath in and out a couple of times. That was another awful thing about Callie, she had to say crap like that about anyone that I had a relationship with. I don't say anything but grab my phone, wallet, and Ava's hand before following Callie out the door. I buckle Ava into my truck and sit in the drivers seat. I play the usual Eric Church while Ava quietly sings along and Callie stays locked to her phone. After a 20 minute drive we made it to the place of the dinner.
I take Ava into my arms and grab Callie's hand as we walk in. Not many people were in the main area and when we got to our reserved area Mr. Hendrick, his wife, Jimmie Johnson, and his family were the only ones here.
I walk over to them and set Ava down to play with Jimmie's two daughters. While I'm talking to them, Callie continues to hold my arm. As if she doesn't know what else to do. Soon everyone else was showing up and we were just waiting on William and Lara. We all continued to talk and wait until the doors opened revealing Will and Lara and another couple behind them.
My eyes widened when I see Bryn and John-Hunter. This is going to be a long night.
