His Secret [Completed]

Original: Chapter 19 - Hawaii

Sophia's POV:

Noah had asked me to be his girlfriend I can't believe it; but I turned him down that must have shattered his confidence, well that's what I thought but no; he actually seemed relieved as if he didn't mean to ask the question when I told him we should take things slow and not rush into a relationship.

 I really like Noah but I feel like there is something he isn't telling me. He is your boss and you shouldn't feel this way about him. If I tell myself this enough it will become true and my heart won't be shattered into a million pieces when everything goes wrong. 

Mrs McKenzie has produced a beautiful spread of food for the 6 of us to enjoy. It takes me back to my childhood when my mother would cook a Sunday roast and we would all sit around the dining room table stuffing our faces. 

Noah's phone rang just as we were finishing the meal and he excused himself into the living room to answer it; as soon as he did Kelly stood came around to my side of the table and dragged me into the kitchen. 

"Did you tell him how you feel?" Kelly asked trying to whisper but it came out as more of a normal voice. 

"No I can't its not right" I told her "He is still my boss, so I need to suppress these feelings and get over him" 

"Are you kidding me!" Kelly shouted and I hushed her "He obviously feels the same way about you" 

"Yeah, well I'm not too sure about that now" I replied beginning to wash some of the supplies that were in the sink so that I don't have to look Kelly in the eye while talking about my feelings. Talking about my emotions has never been a strong trait of mine. 

"What has he done, if he brushed you aside it's because he doesn't know how to handle anything he feels" Kelly said backing Noah 

"No it's not that its just that when I was bandaging his toe- you know because he stubbed it and cut it- he said he had something to tell me; like a massive secret or something and then he went silent" I explained "It started to worry me so I asked again what it was and do you know what he said...he said he wants me to be his girlfriend" 

Kelly started jumping up and down "Soph that's amazing, did you say yes...of course you said yes"

"Kelly I didn't say yes" I interjected 

"What...why?" She said now drying the dishes 

"There was something off about it. You know when you get the feeling they wanted to tell you something but changed it last minute as a cover up?" I explained awfully hoping she would still understand what I meant 

"So you think he is hiding something?" She asked cocking her head to one side and I nodded. "I guess we will have to find out what it is" Kelly added

"I think I should let him tell me on his own terms, when he feels ready" I announced and thanked her for offering, she really is a sweet girl. 

"Sophia you don't have to do that" Mrs McKenzie said as she walked into the kitchen 

"It's fine I don't mind doing it, I like to help" I said 

"But we have staff to do it for us" Really they can't wash up their own dishes. Everything I have done in life has been off of my own back. I haven't had anyone help since my parents died and it wouldn't surprise me if Noah didn't even know how to boil an egg; so I'll say it again, rich people problems. 

"Honestly I don't mind, I kind of needed to get away from all that drama anyway" I said honestly and Mrs McKenzie started to apologise

"Oh I'm so sorry if we put you in an uncomfortable situation, that wasn't our intention. It's just Noah never brings girls home so it's all very new to us and-"
