Noah's POV
"Are you sure about this?" Lia pulled on my cuffs making us come to a stop before the police station. It was now around 7 am, within the two hours since I walked into the coffee shop I have been pulling my hair out trying to conjure a plan that will allow Sophia and I to be together.
So here we are, standing outside the police station early in the morning risking our lives- well more like mine on a plan that may fail. The chance of success is high, but the actual execution and getting what we want- that has a low chance of success. If he catches us, all will be over.
"I am, do I look scruffy enough?" I asked as she pushed me towards the doors.
"I guess so, the beard really does it," she replied. She had hold of the cuffs that were fastened to my wrists behind my back. My hair and beard was a mess and I had changed clothes to some cheap joggers, a hoodie and a baseball cap- definitely not something I would usually wear, but I had to look the part.
Lia is now wearing her officer uniform and had a look of anger plastered across her face. Clearly, she is better at this whole acting thing that I am.
There was hardly anyone around when we walked into the ground floor of the police station. Lia walked us to the front desk and explained to the woman sitting behind it out cover story.
"...so now this fucker has ruined my nice calm morning," she said, "I'm going to take him up for questioning, see you later hun."
She kept pushing me in the direction of the elevator, each time pushing a little harder. After a while, it started to hurt. Once inside the safety of the elevator, Lia let go of the cuffs and clicked the button for floor 16.
"Will you quit pushing me," I complained.
"Nope," Lia said in a calm, sing-song voice, "it's for all of those years you abandoned our friendship."
The doors opened as I was about to speak and a petite woman stepped inside carrying a box. She gave us a smile and then faced the door and we continued up to floor 16.
"Can you do that when we're out of here?" I whispered.
The door opened at floor 16 and Lia resumed her previous cold-hearted expression, she pulled on the cuffs again and we walked onto the floor. This is my first time in a police station in cuffs and I've not actually done anything wrong. I just had to play along and hope our plan works.
The plan is simple enough and surprisingly Lia's suggestion- or was it just because Lia wanted to torment me for the years that I forgot about our friendship by arresting me.
We agreed that the only way to truly sort this mess is to have Brad and Brooke out of our lives forever. Without Brad in the picture, he wouldn't be able to protect Brooke from the law and hopefully she will be easier to take down. That is unless she has slept her way to freedom, that wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.
Lia seemed rather excited about the whole thing, but me on the other hand- well I was terrified that we wouldn't be able to fix this mess. What we needed was cold hard evidence, and this plan would hopefully give us that.
Lia led me over to her desk which was located to the right of a large glass office, after all she is the lead detective's assistant. With a little more force than necessary, she pushed me down onto a chair which attracted just the right amount of attention from the other officers, and one in particular.
Brad looked up from his desk, I knew it was him because of the pictures I had gathered when Brooke first threatened my family. If I didn't know what he was capable of, I would have guessed he was you friendly, do-all-he-can-to-help cop, but underneath his persona, he is an abusive, manipulative, son of a bitch.
