His Secret [Completed]

Original: Chapter 22 - Brad

Why is he contacting me! How am I going to get out of this one, he is on the phone right now.

Help  I mouthed to Jasmine who was staring at me with fear in her eyes. Immediately she nodded and snatched the phone from Kelly hitting the end call button.

"I can't believe you have a boyfriend! Do you just want my brother for his money like all the other girls he's dated?" Kelly half shouted now standing in front of me in an attempt to intimidate me- and it kind of worked because I shrugged back into my seat. I know I have nothing to hide and that's not the reason I want to be with him but hearing what people think of me hurts. "Just get out of my house!" She screamed and launched at me about to slap me and a tear fell from my eye. 

"Kelly you have it all wrong!" Jasmine screamed in an attempt to stop Kelly from attacking me but she was too late and I felt a hand slap my face, instantly I drew my hand to my face to try and stop the pain. 

"How can I have it wrong! She has a boyfriend and is trying to get in a relationship with my brother to steal his money!" Kelly screamed again, but this time at Jas.

I can take abuse from people if it's my fault but others attacking my friends I can't deal with. I stood angrily from the chair in front of Kelly tears still streaming down my cheeks and spoke as best as I could "Please let me explain..." 

"..No Sophia I thought you really liked him" She cut me off "I thought you were different, my brother accepted you as an employee and he gave you a place to stay when you were homeless, my family accepted you into their home and I accepted you as a friend and this is the way you repay us!" 

"I'm sorry Kelly but if you would just let me explain-" I began but once again she cut me off and my anger grew in place of my tears.

"Just get out!" Kelly screamed even louder causing her mother to enter the room holding a tray of cookies obviously confused about all of the noise. 

"He abused me!" I screamed back at her and then sank to the floor in tears once again and I heard gasps from both Kelly and her mother who had dropped the tray she was holding onto the floor in shock.

"Holy shit Sophia I...I...." Kelly said kneeling down and wrapping her arms around me and I cried into her. 

"I'm just going to clear this up" Mrs McKenzie announced and left the room. I had forgot she was standing there but at least she now knows I don't want her son for his money. 

"I'm so sorry for shouting at you and slapping you. I really had no idea. Please forgive me" Kelly said and I could her the sympathy in her voice. 

"It's okay I forgive you. No one knew except Jasmine" I told her and she helped me up onto the sofa and shuffled into the kitchen to get me a glass of water. 

"What are you going to do?" Jas asked me but I just shook my head. "I don't want to think about that right now, I need to explain everything to Mrs McKenzie and Kelly first" It's the least I can do since they have been so kind to me.

Kelly entered a few moments later handing me the glass of water and sitting next to me with a worried expression on her face. "Can I know what happened? I understand if you don't want to talk about it" She said and I gave her a gentle smile. 

"I think I should tell your mom too, she must be confused about what she overheard." I said and Kelly rushed into the kitchen to fetch her mother. I had a few moments to gather my thoughts and take a breath before Kelly entered with her mother. Kelly sat next to me once again and Mrs McKenzie sat opposite looking at me with the same worried look her daughter gave me a couple of minutes prior. 

"Are you okay sweetheart?" Mrs McKenzie asked me and I nodded. 

"3 years ago I was in a relationship with Brad- my ex. We met in college and I instantly was attracted to him. I lived in the dorms because I didn't have enough money to rent, I barley survived with the 3 jobs I had while still taking classes to pay for the dorms" I began until Jas cut me off.
