It wasn't a car we travelled to the hotel in, instead it was a limo. Why this man had to always travel in style and draw attention to himself beats me. Although I'm not complaining, we've been in Hawaii for only a couple of minutes and I've already got a glass of wine in my hand.
All 8 of us were sitting in the back of the limo except Brooke who chose to sit in the front with the driver, but somehow I'm not sure if that was a decision she made on her own or a forced one. Whatever decision it didn't seem to bother me, the fewer times I see her on this vacation the better.
"Noah honey you did book us all rooms right? It's only that you seem very distracted recently," Sherry asked bringing Noah from his trance.
"Yes Mother," he replied bluntly
"Oh good, you didn't need to split the kids up though, I'm sure they would be happy to share."
"I did not split anyone up, I'm not going to lose out on any more money than I already am by handing out unnecessary rooms when people are able to share, and for goodness sake mother they are not children they are grown adults." He returned his attention to his paperwork while Sherry went slightly red in the face.
What son talks to his mother that way? If it were my mother and I talked to her like that she would surely give me a slap around the mouth for being disrespectful.
As I was sitting next to Sherry I could feel her body start to tremble as if she was about to cry. I placed my hand over hers which caught Noah's attention immediately, I glanced up at him and scowled while he only shrugged in response but then mumbled an almost unrecognisable 'sorry mother'. He then put his headphones on and closed his eyes.
She stopped trembling and instead of releasing my hand, held it tighter. I think she just needs some support, it must be hard being the mother of a multi-millionaire.
"Are you okay?" I whispered leaning in that only she could hear me.
She turned to me and nodded slightly and I saw her eyes start to water before she spoke, "I just feel like he doesn't need me anymore"
I felt sorry for her, it just seems like so many people are ungrateful for what they have. Noah isn't ungrateful in the respect of what he has in material goods but in family love. Coming from someone who has no family left it saddens me to see a feud between families.
"He may not need you at the moment but I know he loves you and he knows you will always be there when he needs you"
"Sophia, he is struggling with something I can tell but he won't let me in. All I want to do is help him." She said a tear sliding down her cheek.
Before I was able to answer Jack announced that we had arrived at the hotel and my attention snapped to the window.
I turned around in my seat and was amazed to see the high rise white hotel in front of me. Palm trees guided my eyes up the walkway to the marble entrance surrounded by pillars.
The door to the limo opened and a hand was held out for assistance. I thanked the man dressed in nothing but red swimming shorts who then placed a Hawaiian lei necklace around my neck. I thought this was only something they did in the movies.
The muscular man repeated this to everyone else until he caught sight of Noah. His whole body stiffened and he stepped aside, I guess he was aware of the famous Mr Noah Mckenzie.
